Co-Gen & Urea Production, Tete ProvinceThe massive US$ 6.9 billion investment from Vale in an integrated Mine-Rail-Port Project has presented an extraordinary opportunity to pursue a cluster of hitherto large-scale industrial projects, which hold the potential to transform the region’s economy. The central idea is to utilize excess coal at the existing colliery and nearby iron ore in Mozambique currently under exploration, as feedstock for a proposed industrial cluster at Moatize in Mozambique. The project has two (2) core components, namely an integrated Co-Generation Plant producing Power, Fuel (Diesel and Naphtha Oils), Sulphur and Clinker (for cement production) and a Urea Fertilizer Plant.

GAS TO INDUSTRY, NACALA SEZ, NAMPULA PROVINCEThe monetisation of the massive Rovuma resources will require the development of a completely new natural gas hub in northern district of Palma in Cabo Delgado province, one of the poorest districts in one of the poorest provinces in Mozambique. Mozambique will have to start LNG production from scratch yet plans are gigantic – up to 10 LNG trains by the mid 2020’s – requiring investment that would be four times the size of Mozambique’s GDP, estimated at US$ 14.59 billion (2012).Nacala SEZ has the opportunity to locate four key gas to industry projects:

1. Gas to Power2. Gas to Fertilizer3. Gas to Petrochemicals4. Gas to Liquids
