• Very experienced staff at all levels• - Head EVC since 2003 (twice revalidated)• - All staff Worcestershire CC Visit Leader

trained• - Dead Leader had also done EVC training and

Alpine Ski Leader• Healthy and open training culture• - Had been an inspection visit • - All visits have a recorded evaluation

Storyline …Storyline …• Feb half-term ski visit to Aosta (Interski)• Group of 78+10 staff – transported in 2 coaches• Began return journey c1930, after evening meal on

Saturday 18th Feb• Leader and Deputy on different coaches• Planning expectation that coaches would travel in

convoy but this did not happen• Leader died when coach 2 overturned around 0300

Sunday 19th. Other serious injuries• Emergency contact details were scattered in

wreckage – duplicates were on coach 1• Coach 1 unaware of coach 2 problems
