Job Details for Applicant Post Context Severn Wye Energy Agency (S Wye) is a sustainable energy focused educational charity focused on delivering sustainable energy measures and practices that improve quality of life, increase energy efficiency, reduce environmental impacts and mitigate fuel poverty. Our work areas are organised under themes of Domestic, Education, Community and Business, each with an interesting range of projects in its portfolio and each working in collaboration to provide holistic support on delivery across the S West and Wales. Each theme is overseen by a senior manager known as the Head of Theme; this post is directly responsible to a Senior Energy advisor and the Head of Business Energy Services. Business Energy Advisors carry overall responsibility for delivery of projects under the direction of a nominated project lead. They will work in teams of staff that include project managers, project workers and advisors dependant on the nature of the work. These teams are fluid across projects and themes so that skills can be deployed to support project needs. In particular Business Energy Advisors will be expected to have competent technical knowledge and skills for delivering surveys of businesses, reporting on these and supporting business clients to take up recommendations. BUSINESS ENERGY ADVISOR

Role OverviewTo carry out sustainable energy project work in support of project managers and senior advisors at a range of levels, to conduct energy efficiency surveys, feasibility studies and provide technical information to inform advice for sustainable energy aspects of building developments and renovation.

Key Responsibilities Carrying out sustainable energy project work on a range of projects in the field of

renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable transport. Delivering advice visits, surveys and feasibility studies on sustainable energy to

all types of client. This would include third sector, community buildings, public buildings, schools and businesses (from micro, home based businesses to large corporations and energy suppliers).

Carry out surveys, deliver presentations, training, and promotional events (sometimes at weekends or at unsocial hours).

Typical activities include identification of energy saving opportunities, strategies for reduced energy consumption, assistance with the implementation of strategies, identifying opportunities for renewable energy technologies, and advising on potential financial incentives

Providing advice on renewable energy and energy efficiency to a range of different local stakeholders

Preparing promotional or information materials Support senior colleagues in preparation and presentation at meetings at all

levels and in all sectors, including presenting, facilitating, note taking or carrying out other supporting roles as required

Researching and supporting the development of new sustainable energy projects, and helping to nurture partnerships with a wide range of organisations

Support the development of opportunities to extend and enhance existing partnerships and links to existing schemes and services

Identifying funding sources and provide information that supports the writing of funding applications

Supporting other Severn Wye Energy projects and staff as required Participating in Severn Wye Energy organisational development as required Be prepared to travel for project work. Can involve travel around Europe or

overnight stays for working at other offices.

GENERAL DUTIES Has a specific area of knowledge in a field of energy efficiency advice To participate in Severn Wye Energy advice activities To deal with customer, colleague and partner enquires

Follows all organisational policies and procedures, and assists in ensuring that these are applied consistently across the organisation

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:Qualifications or Experience in

Academic qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g. energy efficiency, engineering, architecture, building services, ecology, environmental science, housing.

Proven technical expertise and ability, including experience of: conducting energy efficiency surveys to a variety of different sized organisations; analysis of commercial energy data; knowledge of appropriate energy efficiency and renewables solutions in commercial environments, and the ability to write clear accurate and concise reports

Ability to present reports to business owners/energy managers/committees/trustees/councillors and provide continued assistance in the implementation of appropriate recommended measures following on from energy surveys

Good general knowledge of the wide range of energy efficiency and renewable technologies and issues

Good general knowledge of energy infrastructure in UK Ability to understand and keep up to date with sustainable energy technical and

infrastructural issues and engage in dialogue with relevant stakeholders at all levels Ability to fact find and analyse information Knowledge of financial incentives relating to energy efficiency and renewable energy

technologies, Computer literate: Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, NETSUITE, e-mail, internet,

database.Desirable:

Experience in organising and facilitation of meetings and other events, and of production of promotional or information materials

Experience of domestic energy advice Experience of working in, or in support of, local or other statutory authorities. Experience of cross-sectoral partnership working Experience in managing press and media contacts Experience of Photo shop and Indesign

Useful Characteristics:

Ability to multi-task, manage own workload efficiently and achieve targets on more than one project at a time

Excellent verbal and written presentation skills, and ability to engage and motivate people at all levels
