Kinaesthetic Market Mapping business Resources for Courses Teacher instructions Kinaesthetic Market Mapping is an activity used to enhance the teaching and learning of market mapping. The activity works best in pairs/ small groups. Two market mapping activities have been included; radio stations and clothing brands. 1 Put the students into pairs/ small groups. Each pair/ group should be given the large A3 market map diagrams with the relevant set of cards. There are some blank cards where teachers can add some further examples, especially for the radio stations where local stations will differ by region. 2 Students simply need to place the cards in the relevant position where they think they will appear on the market map. Where possible/ feasible, students could use their phones or a teacher computer to find information if they are perhaps unsure about one of the radio stations or clothing brands. 3 Alternatively, the class could be split into two (and then into pairs/ small groups) with one half of the class looking at radio stations and the other half looking at clothing brands. This is a good activity to introduce market mapping but should perhaps be followed with the following teacher questions: What gaps have you spotted in the market map? Which of these gaps could have a potential market? Which gaps do you feel would have no “market in the gap”? How else might a business use market mapping apart from spotting gaps? What other axis headings might you use for the market map(s) apart from those given? SAMPLE RESOURCE

Teacher instructionsKinaesthetic Market Mapping is an activity used to enhance the teaching and learning of market mapping.

This is a good activity to introduce market mapping but should perhaps be followed with the following teacher questions: • What gaps have you spotted in the market map?

• Which of these gaps could have a potential market?

• Which gaps do you feel would have no “market in the gap”?

• How else might a business use market mapping apart from spotting gaps?

• What other axis headings might you use for the market map(s) apart from those given?SAM
