With the top tier performers and athletes being presented small scholarships. This breakfast now in it’s 36th year, featured a brief oral history of the event by local historian and retired OCC professor, Hank Panian, who is the sole surviving member of the original founders of the program including its namesake, Les Miller, who’s children were in attendance.
Barbara Steck, a Costa Mesa Library Foundation board member (left above), said her organization looked for teachers with a love for books, reading and writing. Insight Vision Center is your cool new-kid-on-the-block optometry practice, utilizing the latest technology, top notch specialty care eye doctors, and a brand new office bursting with enthusiasm to give you the best vision. We service those in the Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, Irvine, and Tustin areas extending throughout Orange County. We offer two premier services that set us apart from other optometry practices: vision therapy and orthokeratology.
Vision Therapy is a custom program designed to correct vision problems that interfere with one’s ability to learn, read, comprehend, and even pay attention. It can be thought of as “physical therapy for the eyes” and consists of exercises to perfect the movement, focus, and accuracy of how the eyes work together. This program consists of weekly visits with our optometrists accompanied by home activities that the patient practices throughout the week. Our therapy program is tailored according to ability level for both children and adults, but is best when initiated in the early school years to build firm foundational skills. Our optometrists work closely with parents, educators, occupational therapists, and other specialists to help these children achieve success.
Orthokeratology, also known as corneal reshaping therapy, is a way to provide patients with clear vision throughout the day by wearing retainer contact lenses overnight. Orthokeratology also gives the additional benefit of preventing deterioration of vision, hence why we recommended it to many kids. It is a safe and non-permanent vision solution that is an alternative to glasses, soft contact lenses, or LASIK. This is a great solution for kids of parents with high prescriptions, or for very athletic kids whose performance is hindered by wearing glasses.
Here at Insight Vision Center our mission is simple: you will love the way you see and you will get the finest eyecare in Orange County. Our goal is to improve the quality of life of every patient. We want everyone to leave knowing that you’ve gotten individualized attention and the absolute best care. We see ourselves as partners with our community, our employees, and our patients.
We are persistent in keeping up with the latest medical breakthroughs and relentless in our training to deliver world class eyecare and custom vision solutions. We believe there is one rule never to be broken: keep our patients and their needs at the center of all we do.

Paid sick leave accrues at the rate of one hour per every 30 hours worked, paid at the employees regular wage rate. Accrual shall begin on the first day of employment or July 1, 2015, whichever is later.
Accrued paid sick leave shall carry over to the following year of employment and may be capped at 48 hours or 6 days. However, subject to specified conditions, if an employer has a paid sick leave, paid leave or paid time off policy (PTO) that provides no less than 24 hours or three days of paid leave or paid time off, no accrual or carry over is required if the full amount of leave is received at the beginning of each year in accordance with the policy.
Usage: An employee may use accrued paid sick days beginning on the 90thday of
employment.
An employer shall provide paid sick days upon the oral or written request of an employee for themselves or a family member for the diagnosis, care or treatment of an existing health condition or preventive care, or specified purposes for an employee who is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
An employer may limit the use of paid sick days to 24 hours or three days in each year of employment.
Retaliation or discrimination against an employee who requests paid sick days or uses paid sick days or both is prohibited. An employee can file a complaint with the Labor Commissioner against an employer who retaliates or discriminates against the employee.

MY FAVORITE TEACHER AWARD
Congratulations to Bee Sugared for their wise business decision in doubling their sphere of influence by joining BOTH the Costa Mesa and Newport Beach Chambers of Commerce! Double the networking, double the fun, and hopefully double the customers!
Les Miller Outstanding Students Awards Breakfast
The Chamber was pleased to honor the top overall performing students from Costa Mesa’s high schools, colleges, and university.
Olsen, who has a master’s degree in literacy education, “fit the bill.”Shown above Barbara Steck, Rebecca Olsen, and Kyle Woosley, Chamber President/CEO
