Through our entrepreneurial leadership focus, we develop leaders with the cutting edge knowledge, skills, confidence and mind-set to make a real practical difference to people’s lives and the success of businesses and economies.

Working with employers our curriculum is designed to develop confident, enterprising and proactive graduates who are:

• CIVIC IN THINKING• ENTERPRISING IN ATTITUDE• COLLABORATIVE IN ACTION• GLOBAL IN OUTLOOK.

At Teesside we have a rich and deeply embedded culture of innovation and enterprise where academic underpinning is explored through interactive delivery of real-world examples within a supportive but challenging learning environment.

Enterprise is woven through all our programmes, which cover the full range of career development opportunities from higher degree apprenticeships and undergraduate degrees through to postgraduate, doctoral and executive education.

We believe that entrepreneurship is a powerful driver of economic and social value creation and that it is a skill that can be learnt. We’re a modern, enterprising and dynamic business school offering a blend of academic excellence, entrepreneurial thinking and real-world orientation.

Teesside University has a leading role in building skills and knowledge in our region and beyond.

WELCOME TO TEESSIDE UNIVERSITY BUSINESS SCHOOL

During 2018, Teesside University Business School will be at the forefront of the University’s role in building skills and knowledge in our region.

The government’s new industrial strategy pinpoints the critical role that innovation and skills must play in securing future economic growth for our country, together with the importance of building prosperous communities and the extent to which universities are key to making that happen.

At Teesside University, we have long understood how deeply these two key drivers of prosperity can influence the fortunes of the Tees Valley and the wider region. That’s why one of our core strategic goals is to provide organisations with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed as they start up, grow and adapt to the change and disruption that characterise our global economy.

We are bolstering this capability even further by making Teesside University Business School a focal point for the way we work with individuals and employers. We’re not only investing £22.5m to create a 21st century home for the School, but we have also brought in a fresh leadership team, new programmes and new ways of working with employers.

Our approach in developing the MBA Degree Apprenticeship was heavily influenced by our core Business School philosophy: that if we are truly to make a difference, we must develop people who are enterprising in attitude, collaborative in action, global in outlook and civic in thinking.

The MBA Degree Apprenticeship is one of Teesside University Business School’s flagship programmes. It is aimed at leaders with experience in management and the workplace who appreciate that to lead teams and stay ahead in our turbulent fast-paced global economy, they need new tools and skills.

We look forward to welcoming MBA Degree Apprenticeship students to Teesside University.

Noel Dennis MBA Programme Leader Teesside University Business School

Many thanks for your interest in our brand-new MBA Degree Apprenticeship

The apprenticeship levy has meant that businesses are looking at new ways to

train their staff in order to utilise the funding available, and providers are

responding in kind.

Research by Investors in People reveals that poor leadership and management is costing the UK £84bn in lost productivity

every year. UK businesses will struggle to perform to their potential if their staff have not been trained in how to lead, or helped to develop the skills they need to manage

the tasks of others. New employer-designed degree apprenticeships offer

such training opportunities.

Ian Myson Director of HE partnerships,

Chartered Management Institute

With the key challenges facing business today it is crucial that senior managers have the adaptability and flexibility to make crucial business decisions in a complex and ever changing dynamic business environment.

The Teesside University Business School MBA builds on the requirement for organisations to create leaders capable of delivering change with sustainable business growth. It addresses the crucial need for blending interdisciplinary skills with classic entrepreneurial capabilities and has a balanced and considered approach to developing 21st century senior leaders and managers capable of adapting to an ever changing social, technological and economic environment.

Catherine Wilcox MINI Development Manager, MINI UK

I think the Teesside MBA is a fantastic qualification for anyone to gain. It covers all the main skills and knowledge requirement that are needed to run successful businesses as well as giving an insight to other markets which are sometimes so hard to get. I very much like the fact it will take inspiration from the UN’s sustainable development goals but in particular that its content is based on what is happening at the time. Like any business, a course that can be dynamic and react to what is happening in the world is more likely to succeed than one that doesn’t Scott Jenkins

Sales and Operation Director, Authohorn Fleet Services

The MBA developed by Teesside University is very much welcomed, providing much needed balance between the need to act commercially and recognise the important role that business has to play in resolving the social issues that affect many of the communities they operate within.

EARNING WHILE I LEARNT… AND THE STAFF SUPPORT WAS OUTSTANDINGThe MBA certainly gave me a great set of tools and contacts to help leverage my business success. It provided me with the platform to earn while I was learning and really reflect on my business experiences through a different lens, which in turn supported my knowledge acquisition and professional skills development. Balancing work with study was a challenge, but the student support available at Teesside University was outstanding and the flexible supportive approach of the staff made studying for an MBA whilst working an enjoyable experience.

The teaching staff at Teesside University are high calibre. They inspired me to achieve the best results possible. I love the people and the culture of the region. I also really enjoyed the input from prominent business people from across a range of sectors and cultures. HOW DOES IT WORK?Learners will be exposed to a variety of learning methods to develop their knowledge and understanding – ranging from workshops, field trips, live participant organisation based case studies and projects, simulations, action learning sets and a variety of interactive learning, utilising various learning technologies. Students will learn authentically with and through their peers in order to develop solutions to strategic challenges in organisations.

Employers in the region who pay the apprenticeship levy can take advantage of the MBA through an apprenticeship mode of learning through the Senior Leader Manager Degree Apprenticeship which incorporates Chartered Manager Institute competencies.

The course is taught over a period of 24 months.

For every 10 credits of taught learning, students will receive at least one day of face-to-face contact time which is supported by blended methods and via the functions in the Virtual Learning Environment, such as virtual seminars, discussion boards and engagement with podcast materials etc. There is an opportunity to engage with the module tutors and the head of programme on a frequent basis and by appointment to suit your schedule.
