Why to Simplify Business? With the emergence of Digital Economy, the digital consumers have started to demand a plethora of services
spanning content, communications, and enterprise services to be delivered anytime, anywhere and any-device.
Hence, operators need to remain agile, lean and proactive to cater to the demands of the Digital Consumer. To
fabricate such an agile landscape, the complexity arising due to changing technology, launch of product & services,
partner onboarding, engagement channels and newer business models needs to be curtailed. In addition, the
traditional approach of business transformation to eliminate complexity is also limited - addressing technology
obsolescence, application stack consolidation, managing outsourcing operations through time and material mode,
and driving IT outcomes rather than business SLA. To navigate the maze of complexity and remain agile in the
dynamic marketplace, there is a need for a reimagined approach for Business transformation with core theme as
simplification.
Figure 1: Drivers of Business Simplification
What is Business Simplification? In TCS, we believe any Business simplification program aimed
at eliminating complexity unfolds into two parts: transforming
the current business by removing complexity and running the
business without accumulation of newer complexity. So, the
key imperative is to embed business simplification DNA into
the organization structure as a continual process rather than
one time transformation program across various business
dimensions – Business Models, Products & Services, Channels
of Engagement, Customer Segments, Business Process and
workplace is critical. TCS Business Simplification solution consists of the following key components:
“Business Simplification is the construct of
confiscating complexity from operators’
landscape by transforming Business,
Technology and Network elements with a
holistic Organizational change
management engagement and ably
supported by operational excellence”

Figure 2: Business Simplification Framework
TCS Business Simplification Solution Suite: Business Simplification Quotient (BSQTM
) is the measure of complexity across product, process, networks,
technology and people. The BSQTM score allows operators to identify how far the simplification goals have been
achieved, compliance to industry standards and recognize the levers of simplification. TCS BSQTM is a dipstick
approach to quantify simplification index which advocates a comprehensive set of TCS fabricated frameworks and
products that can be architected across both transformation engagements (Business excellence and Technology
excellence) and run the business engagements (Operational excellence) as shown in figure 3.
