The concentricity test instrument FISSO 127630 is a Swiss quality product and was designed for use in production. It is ideal for checking the concentricity of turned parts with diameters up to Ø 240 mm and a weight of up to 25 kg. Depending on the version, the concentricity test instrument is equipped with zero-play scroll plates on bearings or with V-blocks and can be adjusted in height on one side. Available in 2 lengths for parts up to a maximum of 378 mm or 878 mm long.

Achieve the perfect countersink with regard to roundness and surface characteristics with the EUC-speed countersink. The tools are available in HSS as a cylindrical shank 276020 or as three-surface shank 276015. The variant made from solid carbide can be found under 276270. The considerable uneven pitch reduces the axial force by more than 50% and the radial force by up to 25%. This force reduction and the optimised coating also significantly increases the service life. Multiplied machining capacity

Otto Suhner also has impressive expertise in machining production. The Machining division develops tailor-made drill heads, in particular for the automotive industry. Thanks to these devices, up to 30 holes can be drilled in just one work step. These innovations are used, for example, in the manufacture of car doors.The CNC tool holders and machining units also optimise the processes for machine tools. Thanks to these Suhner complete assemblies, which are installed in the Japanese Okuma machines for example, users implement multiple and complex machining processes in one machine.The stamping sector: As a contract manufacturer, Otto Suhner produces complex stamping and bending parts from various materials. The company builds and maintains the technically demanding tools itself. In turn, these sheet metal parts are installed in cars, for example as a circuit board in the cockpit. Here also, customers can configure their components themselves using the stamped part calculation bot.


Whether in the Ducati of the Moto GP team, in the operating theatre or in a gas-insulated industrial switchboard, the flexible drive shafts from Otto Suhner AG are used in a wide variety of applications. And they are in demand worldwide: For example, various automotive suppliers install the flexible shafts in drive units for automatic seat adjustment, in sunroof mechanisms or in the tachometer. In the Porsche GT3, it is used to move the rear wing in and out. Special requirements for luxury saloons also demand advanced solutions. Therefore, in this segment the power transmission elements are wrapped with a noise-dampening twine, so that the occupants hardly notice the drive technology. The Swiss family company is a global quality leader in this niche market. The well-proven drive shafts are produced on specially developed wrapping systems at the site in Lupfig (AG). Worthy of mention here, is the online configurator which enables an application-specific search. With just a few clicks, customers can create the basic construction of their shafts themselves.

A good grip on grinding

However, the Otto Suhner brand is well known for the abrasive technologies. In addition to the manufacture of grinding tools with electrical, battery, pneumatic and flexible shaft drive, the removal experts also supply the associated abrasives for surface finishing. The fabrication of components for the devices requires the highest precision: Parts are honed up to precisely 0.12 micrometre to achieve up to 80,000 revolutions per minute in operation. The evidence that the special tools have proven themselves over the years? Replacement parts are still requested for products that are up to 30 years old!The cross-sector expertise of the company is shown best in the grinding tools. In fact, the flexible shafts and the arc-toothed bevel gears are produced in-house. From the 5-mm pinion to 30-cm-spiral bevel gears, the gears are also manufactured for direct installation at customers. They meet the highest requirements under continuous and peak load and are suitable for extreme operating conditions.

Co-operation with Brütsch/Rüegger Tools

Running such a versatile company with a sizeable 85 percent production depth at multiple production sites is not easy. The challenge for the international co-operation is the logistics. Roland Zaugg, Head of Quality, Work Safety and Employee Protection, says: "We pack the products delivered to the customer as air freight in house. So, not only do we reduce our shipping costs and delivery time, but it also spares us the scanning processes at the airport. We are also specially certified for this."The procurement of tools and safety equipment is just as efficient. For several years, Otto Suhner AG has obtained both high-quality solid carbide plates and personal protective equipment for employees from Brütsch/Rüegger Tools. Otto Suhner AG From abrasives to machiningDuring the First World War, flexible drive shafts could no longer be imported into Switzerland. However, the products were still needed for tachometers. Otto Suhner AG was created in 1914 as a result of this situation. Now in its fourth generation, the family-owned company has specialised further and operates four business areas: Abrasives, Machining, Transmission and Stamping. With a 40 percent revenue share, Abrasives is the most important division.

Represented all over the world The main site in Lupfig (AG) employs 220 staff, 15 of which are apprentices. Other production sites in Europe are in Bad Säckingen (D), Bergamo (I) and Ensisheim (F). The SCHWEIZER LED magnifier with light 151275 is equipped with many technical refinements, which facilitate precise work. Two lens diameters of Ø 120 or Ø 202 mm are available. Tilting the magnifying head enables oblique illumination. The resulting shadow is helpful when checking for cracks. The lamp head, with the lens open to the front, enables a comfortable working posture as the field of view is not restricted by an edge.

The innovative secuRgrip solution from REGO-FIX offers 100% security for the ER collet chuck system. The secuRgrip threaded insert 339111 has been developed so that it fits in all tools with a Weldon surface. They are screwed together in the secuRgrip collect chuck 339110, thus offering 100% extraction protection for true running accuracy of less than 5 μm.

The vacuum clamping plates from AMF with built-in Venturi nozzle are a simple and convenient solution for clamping thin or non-magnetic workpieces. Thanks to the Venturi nozzle, no additional vacuum unit is required and it can be connected directly to the compressed air. Centring or spot drilling with carbide drills should generally be avoided. If this is still necessary for special conditions such as a rough or sloping surface, care must be taken to ensure that the pre-centre drill hole is greater than the angle at the tip of the tool. Otherwise, the cutting edges can be damaged and in the worst case, the tool breaks. The solution is the MAGAFOR SC NC spotting drill bit with 142° 250450. Here, contact only takes place at the tool tip and stabilises the tool. Workpieces up to 56HRC can be processed with the HardX coating.

The vacuum clamping plates from AMF with built-in Venturi nozzle are a simple and convenient solution for clamping thin or non-magnetic workpieces. Thanks to the Venturi nozzle, no additional vacuum unit is required and it can be connected directly to the compressed air. Centring or spot drilling with carbide drills should generally be avoided. If this is still necessary for special conditions such as a rough or sloping surface, care must be taken to ensure that the pre-centre drill hole is greater than the angle at the tip of the tool.
