We are glad to have a new student in our class, Ayva S. There are now 18 children in our classroom. Happy Winter Break! School resumes for students on Tuesday, January 5th. Daily Folders: Return these folders to school every day! Be sure to check the small box on the calendar for your child’s behavior report. 2:30 Dismissal Every Wednesday! Homework: Please remember to complete the assigned homework with your child every week. Homework is sent on Tuesday and is due on Friday. Please initial your child’s homework to show that you have worked together on it. Snack: Please remember to bring snacks on your assigned day. We have 18 children in our class. Upcoming Snacks: January 6- Artavionn, 7-Jarell Winter Party: We had a great time at our winter party today! Thank you to everyone who planned, organized, and helped! Grading Scale: As graded papers come home, please note the District 186 Grading Scale: 1- beginning to understand 2- progressing toward goal 3- mastery of goal Word Wall Rings Please keep working on the words each night at home. This week, we learned about some winter holidays, including Hannukah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas. After break, we will begin a unit on winter. We are also learning to tell about the problem and solution in a story. Writing This week, we worked on writing about the problem and solution in a familiar story, The Amazing Little Porridge Pot. We also had the chance to do some creative writing about winter and Christmas. We are also practicing writing some sentences using our word wall words. We continue to work on spaces between words and capital letters only at the beginning of the sentence. Math We finished topic 14-shapes- yesterday. After break, we will begin a short study on position and location words. Science/Social Studies We enjoyed talking about jobs at home and at school, as well as earning money and learning about spending and saving money. We finished this unit with a study on wants and needs.
