    PART ONE

    Show your students the Buy Nothing Day Sweden TV spot. Buy Nothing Day is an annual campaign launched by Adbusters in 1992. It is celebrated each year at the end of November.

    Next, play the CNN interview with Kalle Lasn and discuss it with your students.Besides environmental problems, what are the other potentially negative consequences to excessive consumption?

    Ask for student volunteers who would be willing to participate in this years Buy Nothing Day. Have those that agree sign a Buy Nothing Day pledge sheet.

    Next, have a short discussion about what the students will need to do to prepare, such as making a lunch at home in the morning, or carrying a snack in their backpack. Find out if students think it will be dif cult to not buy anything for an entire day. Why or why not?
