Islam has put considerable emphasis on every Muslim to acquire knowledge. The Prophet (SAW) made it obligatory on every Muslim, man and woman to seek knowledge

“Seeking knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim”.In another Hadeeth, the Prophet (SAW) has said “A father who educates his daughter well will

enter paradise”.

Mufti Shah Sadruddin (Founder)

Mufti Shah Sadruddin graduated in Islamic Theology from Darul Uloom Bury in 1985 then did hisTakhassus in Hadith from Al-Azhar university, Cairo, from there he went to Darul Uloom Deobandin India to do his masters in Islamic Law (Ifta) in 1991. After teaching Hadeeth for 3 years in DarusSalaam, Sylhet, one of the most reputable Islamic institutions in Bangladesh. He had the honour to

be sent by his Shaykh and mentor, Shaykhul Hadith Hazrat Maulana Yusuf Motala to teachBukhari in Darul Uloom Madania, Buffalo, New York for the first time in the history of America in1999. The following year he went to teach in Darul Uloom Lisbon, Portugal, making him the first

Shaykhul Hadith in Portugal also. Mufti Shah Sadruddin also received Ijazah of Bay’ah from Shaykhul Hadith Hazrat Maulana

Yusuf Motala saheb. It is under his guidance in conjunction with the kind co-operation of ForestGate Masjid that Imam Zakariya Academy was established in 2003. Our first project was to start

a full time Primary School in 2003.In 2004 we started the part - time Aalim classes for adults. We then went onto make this a full -time Aalim course in 2005. Due to the need and after several enquiries from sisters, we decided to

dedicate the weekend for sisters' classes and so the weekend Aalimah and short courses wereintroduced in 2006.

Our speciality is we do all our courses in English so that irrelevant of cultural and languagebackground everyone in the UK has the fair chance to study the course.

Message from Maulana Shah Muhammad Anas (Principal)

For many years sisters have been unable to further their studies in the Islamic field as they have not

had the opportunity to enhance and refresh knowledge of Deen due to lack of classes or otherresponsibilities. There are many masail that nullify our Salaah or our Imaan due to the actions or

beliefs we are unaware of. After many years sisters have shown their interest in short courses. Wesee that sisters are very keen to do courses like the brothers and this organisation has given sistersopportunities to do so. After seeing the great success of our weekend short courses, we decided tostart the weekend Aalimah course. It is also an opportunity for our mothers & sisters to associate

with God fearing people in the environment of the masjid.

Testimonials

"The IZA Aalimah course has equipped us with the required tools to study and explore the knowledgeof Islam in ways previously inconceivable. The teachers here are not merely teachers; they have becomemother figures and role models. I feel that we have become not only more knowledgeable with regardsthe Deen, but more importantly better people under the supervision of our respected teachers. I pray

that Allah grant everyone involved in this blessed work Jannatul Firdous." Year 3

"My Aalimah course experience hitherto has been extremely fruitful, Alhamdulillah. I feel that we learn

something new and of immense benefit in every lesson. The fact that we are able to implement what welearn is testament to our teachers’ efforts and sincerity."

Year 3

"The most prominent feature I have experienced during my time at IZA is not just the educationalaspect, but rather the ability to implement what we have learnt into our day-to-day lives."

Year 3

"Joining the IZA Aalimah programme has helped me in more ways than I can express. I have been ableto better myself, not only spiritually, but also in a worldly way. The teachers are incredibly supportive,

understanding and amazing role models. I feel that I have become a better person because of them andI would not trade this experience for anything else."

Year 2

"This course has changed my perspective towards not only Islam, but life in general. It has helped me tobegin understanding Allah's commandments. Through this course, I feel that I am gradually coming

closer to Allah. Through the Barakah of this course, I feel that Allah’s mercy upon me and my family hasincreased exponentially. This is, without a doubt the best decision I have ever made. As for the teachers, each one is an inspirational guide. They are thoughtful, understanding, talented, and have become likemothers to us. The students have a close connection with not only the teachers, but with one another

which gives the feeling of a familial bond." Year 2

"The value of what we are taught can be gauged by the fact that I teach my family members thingsthat I am taught in every lesson. The support that we get is beyond what any institution provides. Thesupport of the teachers is not just confined to the classroom; they are of assistance to us even outside of

Madrasah times. Our teachers are like our mothers and we aspire to be like them. I pray that I amreunited with my teachers in Jannah."

Year 2

"When I first started the IZA Alimiyyah course, my fear was that I would struggle to understand the

intricacies related to the Islamic sciences. My fears were very quickly dispelled after receiving the supportthat I have from my teachers and classmates."

have ever made in my life." Year 2

"As a 15 year old, I thought that I wouldn't be able to manage the Aalimah course as well as my school

studies. This has proven to be false; I not only manage but I enjoy attending the lessons." Year 1

Alhamdulillah these classes have helped me to become a better Muslimah." Year 1

productive experience for me." Year 1

"Living in the west, we have progressively lost the passion of our pious predecessors. This gradual
