What is a Radiologic Technologist?
• Also called radiographers
• Take x-rays of the human body(images of the human body)
• Administer nonradioactive materials into the patientsbloodstreams
• Make sure that every thing is safe for the procedure
• Explain what is going to happen
• Removing jewelry and other articles
• Position patients so that the body can be
radiographed
• Review x-ray images
Nature of Work

accomplishment
o Realistic Interests-like practical hands-on problems and solutions
o Investigative-like ideas and talking, searching for facts, and
finding solutions
Personality Characteristics
• High school diploma/GED
• Medical Imaging Technology program
• Be able to work in a team
• Study anatomy and physiology, patient care procedures, and medical terminology, radiation physics, radiation protection, and principles of imaging
• Complete a two-year program in medical imaging technology
• Completion of seven clock hours of HIV/AIDS training
EDUCATION/TRAINING
• Complete a two-year accredited training program
• Registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
• Certification with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification board
Licensure, Certification, Registration
Interpersonal Relationships:– high level of social interaction, constantly talk to
doctors and patients– deal with unpleasant, angry people– placed in conflict situations– work in a group or as part of a team
