  • The desert receives less than 10 inches of rain each year. In a hot desert, the main precipitation is rain. In a cold desert, the main precipitation is snow or fog. Precipitation is very seldom in the desert.

  • Deserts ecologys are changing because global warming is causing higher temperatures that increase the number of wildfires that alter desert landscape. Global warming is taking away desert plant life and replacing it with grasses.
