DESCRIPTION

Both nuclear and wind energy are used for electricity. Nuclear power is actually responsible for powering about 20% of America. Wind turbines are used to create mechanical energy and powered 1.3% of the U.S. population.

How to turn it into energy?Wind- Windmills and turbines are put out on a open peace of lands. They are have rotating blades that are moved by the wind which cause a rotating generator to create electricity.Nuclear- Nuclear energy is formed in two different ways. The first way nuclear fission here the atoms are split in half releasing energy(usually uranium atoms). The second way is nuclear fusion. In nuclear fusion the atoms are combined to form a larger atom while releasing energy. This method is still being researched

Pros and ConsNuclear

Pros Little pollution. Ready and available.

Cons Uses uranium fuel which is radio active

and destroys the environment. Nuclear plants and nuclear waste can be targets for terrorists.

WindPros

Cheapest renewable resource. Does not release harmful chemicals to

environment.Cons

Easily damaged by heavy storms due to metal. Rotating blade can be fatal to birds flying by.

GovermentWind-The government plans to have 20% of America on wind energy by the year 2030. This means that they will be putting up to 7000 windmills per year. The reason the government has not made wind the most used for energy is because, it will take to many wind mill to power the entire country.the Nuclear- The reason Nuclear energy is not being used more is because it’s a big terrorist target. And because a single mishap can destroy a big part of the country. Nuclear energy cover 20% ogf the country.
