What causes plaque from sugar ?

Sugar plays a very harmful role in tooth decay, because the bacteria gets energy from the sugar and makes plaque. Plaque multiplies faster and becomes thicker and wider. Not all of the bacteria turns the sugar into a type of glue.

The surface of the enamel on the tooth becomes porous and makes tiny holes in your teeth, after a while the holes become bigger from the acid.
