The Panama City Christmas parade is one of the most exciting Panama Christmas traditions. The poor children from around the city are gathered together and brought to the center of the festivities, so they, too, can enjoy them. The floats are decorated in the national styles and the women dress in their country's party dresses, polleras. The men's costumes are called monunos. Here are some pictures from one of their parades.

At the Panama City beach, they ceremonially light a giant Christmas tree and sing Christmas carols. The local churches come together to serve hot cocoa and Christmas cookies. Then they have a fireworks display

Panama has many more traditions like the ones we have.

Panamas tropical climate has two seasons, one rainy and one dry. Variation depends on the region and altitude.

Wet season lasts from May until November and even though plants are sprouting it’s considered winter.

Summer lasts from December to April. March and April are the two hottest months.

The weather affects people from Iowa who come to Panama because it is so different with only two seasons for tropical climate and at very different times than in Iowa.

Usually, the way the people dress in a place speaks of the history and the culture of the country. This is very true with the clothing in Panama. The pollera is considered as the national clothing in Panama for women as well as the Panama hat for the men. This dress is usually being used for many Panama activities and attractions. It is being worn with a lot of jewelries and hair accessories, making it an unforgettable symbol of Panama culture. The pollera consists of the upper part or gown, the skirt and petticoat. The upper part is off shoulders blouse with ornaments such as ruffles and laces in very colorful designs. The skirt is also as elaborate as the blouse and they have the same motif. Trimmings are usually hand-made thread lace. This very unique clothing in Panama looks more elegant with ornaments called tembleques.
