A healthy meal is made up of…

Some of each food group, Fruits, Vegetables, Grains, Protein, and Dairy.

The amounts should be about like the MyPlate.

Some say yes, and some say no. I believe that it is possible to purchase a

healthy meal on campus as long as you pick and choose very carefully.

Most children, about 90% of all kids, do not go by this guideline.

For Example, in order for you to have a healthy meal you would need to…

Get a milk carton from the cafeteria. Order a salad from the cafeteria. Grab a fruit that the cafeteria is serving

that day. And finally get a lean hamburger from

Daisy’s Diner.

This is what a normal lunch at school looks like,

A main course, such as a Popeye’s, or an Enchilada plate.

Some sort of fountain drink.

This is normally enough to fill me up.

In order to be healthy I would need to,

Drop the fountain drink and pick up a milk.

Either bring a fruit and vegetable from home, or get it from the cafeteria.

The DECA foods are designed to look, taste, and sell well.

This makes these foods not as healthy.

Even though these foods seem to be healthy, they are not always within the guidelines.

For myself, I need to eat the same amount of grains, protein, and dairy, but eat a snack of fruit a vegetables in there too. I also need to cut down on my fat calories.
