2006 Southern Leyte mudslideA massive rock slide-debris avalanche occurred on 17 February 2006 in the Philippine province of Southern Leyte that caused

widespread damage and loss of life. The deadly landslide followed a ten-day period of heavy rains and a minor

earthquake of magnitude 2.6 on the Richter scale. The official death toll was 1,126.

September 26th 2009 Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) made landfall in Luzon dumping over

12” of rain in 6 hrs on Manila and other parts of the National Capital Region. This caused massive urban flooding, 280+

deaths, destroyed homes and shelters of millions of people.
