Seal Coating
Seal coating is a barrier coat between asphalt surfaces and
the destructive elements
A pavement preservation technique
Reason to sealcoat- Asphalt pavement Deterioration
The asphalt binder (glue) that holds
the pavement together begins to
oxidize and weather soon after
installation. Moisture penetrates the
asphalt causing damage and
deterioration to the pavement.
How does it work ? Untreated vs. Treated
Seal coat replenishes the binder that is lost through
weathering and provides a barrier to moisture
intrusion
Also increase pavement texture and surface friction
