PROBLEM STATEMENT

• This site suffers primarily from extreme erosion of the substrate under and around the bus stop platform and sparse native vegetation in the median. Poor storm water management and use of the bus stop and median by students perpetuate these problems.

MAIN POINTS

• Inspiration: Downtown Aiken Greenways • Similarities• Differences

• Main targets: erosion and soil exposure/stability

• Main components of my proposal:• Redesign the existing bus stop• Recontour the terrain• Create a bioswale• Use native vegetation

BENEFITS TO CAMPUS

• With the continued budget cuts facing the university, projects with long lasting benefits should be adopted.

• By implementing such a public and visible project, Clemson can show its university community that it is serious about making big changes to the way projects are prioritized and initiated at Clemson.

• If implemented, this project could certainly serve as a pilot study for other similar projects on campus.
