It is hereby notified, for general information, that it isnecessary to draw attention to the advertisement, “Conditionsfor Acceptance of Copy”, which appears in every issue of theGazette; and particularly the need to submit lengthy copy,in the case of Statutory Instruments, at least 21 days beforethe date of closing —for the Gazette in which the notice is |to be published.
- During the past few: months or so there have been manycases. where urgent copy for subsidiary legislation, whichrequires the signature of the President or a minister to giveit effect, and which is of national importance, has been sentin for publication with the Gazette after ‘closing-time. WhilstI cnowledge that it is the duty of the Department ofPrinting and Stationery to give certain notices special treat-ment. Tam, however, of the view that a Gazette Extraordinaryhas tended to be a must rather than a matter of priority inrespect of unwarranted delays of urgent copy.
While every effort will continue to be made to publishExtraordinaries on the required dates, copy must be submittedtimeously so that it can be programmed into the printingwork-flow as soon as it is available.
