Cooler nights, chopping corn, the turning leaves and October is nearby. Fall is coming and with it brings the memories of warmer days, loved ones lost, and bringing us closer to Thanksgiving, Christmas, and a New Year with a new riding season ahead.

Spring and summer when new life blooms and grows, and fall and winter when the leaves fall and snow blankets our world. Rid-ing can be summed up in the same way. We are always excited about the new riding sea-son. It's full of adventure, fun and friendly conversations. Until the weather cools, and we are looking at the last ride of the season.

Fall also brings us closer to Halloween and the last official chapter ride. The cooler nights, shorter days and falling leaves make riding a bit more challenging. Deer and slick leaf covered roads make for hazards we must watch for as the nights shorten and rid-

ing continues at the same time. We had a great riding season with lots of rides and events. Sharing this with the club and HDJ makes this all worthwhile. Roseann and I wanted to make more rides, but our obliga-tions to our grandchildren and our home has made our season very short and next year should be better.

On a final note enjoy your fall rides and all the beautiful colors because I believe that this is the best season of the year. To all my fellow members,l be safe, watch for deer and other critters, watch the roads for fall ob-stacles, and I will see you all very soon.

Well it’s now the end of Sept., the season is changing fast and soon it will be time to put the bikes away for the winter. I’ve definitely seen the changes with the temperature dropping early in the evening and the cool mornings when we get up. Hopefully we will have some nice fall days for riding before the snow flies. We still have some Chapter rides scheduled and weather permitting, I will add some more.

As the 2018 year is coming to an end it’s time to think about the chapter contests. Remember the Mileage Contest ends on the first Sunday in November when the Fall Letchworth ride is scheduled. I was thinking about changing the destination this year but since we didn’t get to do this ride in the spring due to the weather, I think I will leave it the same. Hopefully the weather co-operates and we can have a nice ride to Letchworth State Park and then to Sprague Maple Farms for a nice afternoon meal. Anyhow, please

remember to get your ending miles to me no later than Nov. 15th so that I can get a total and have the patches made. If you put your bike in storage for the winter be sure to record the miles before doing so. You can email your ending miles to me, the Chapter email, or any of the primary officers or post them on the C-K HOG Facebook page.

At the October meeting we will take nominations for the Best Chapter Ride of the Year and the winner will be voted on from the top 5 nominations at the November meeting. I will have a list of all the rides and the ride leaders at the Oct. meeting. At the November meeting we will take nominations for the Volunteers of the year, one male and one female, so be thinking of who you would like to nominate and who has done the most to help out the chapter throughout the year. Primary officers are not eligible for this award. The winners will be determined by the Primary Officers from the nominations.

Well, enough from me for this month, I’m hoping the rain ends so I can get my ride in for the day.

“Ride Free, Ride Safe, and Ride Often as we never know what tomorrow brings”

General Chapter Information

Toy Barrel Someone told me the other day that it was less than 90 days until

Christmas. Now with the Holidays rapidly approaching the Toy Barrel looks pretty empty. Please make an effort to fill the barrel to overflow-ing. The toys and other items that the Chapter has donated in the past

have made a real impact upon the recipients. Lets continue the Chapter’s efforts to make a difference in the community.

When you feel like giving up

Be honest with God about your feelings. Psalm 13:1-2, NIV. “How long, Lord? Will you forget me for-ever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?”

God has promised strength when we need it. Colossians 1:11-12, NKJV. “strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all pa-tience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.”

Giving up often causes us to miss the best God has to offer. I2 Corinthians 4:16-17, NKJV. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is be-ing renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more ex-ceeding and eternal weight of glory"

When our hearts condemn us, we should not give up. I 1 John 3:19-20, NKJV. “And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.”

God's presence is not always a glorious, fantas-tic, awesome display - He might be in a still small voice. 1 Kings 19:11-12, NKJV. "Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice"

You are not alone. Deuteronomy 31:6, NKJV. "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Though we make mistakes, we are still in God's hands. Psalm 37:23-24, NKJV. The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the LORD upholds him with His hand"

Mistakes happen and sometimes we fall - don't give up, get back up. Proverbs 24:16, NKJV. "For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity."

Nothing can separate us from God's love. Romans 8:38-39, NKJV. "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Trust God and wait on Him. I Isaiah 25:9, NKJV. "And it will be said in that day: 'Behold, this is our God; We have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the LORD; We have waited for Him; We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.'"

God will not fail you in your day of adver-sity. Psalm 57:2-3, NKJV. "I will cry out to God Most High, to God who performs all things for me. He shall send from heaven and save me; He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. God shall send forth His mercy and His truth"

Nothing is apparently more helpless, yet really more invincible, than the soul that feels its noth-ingness and relies wholly on God. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NKJV. "And He said to me, 'My grace is suffi-cient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weak-ness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
