Overview of current work programme

• Contract 512 is responsible for the Whitechapel Main Station Works programme.

• They are primarily responsible for works above ground. • This involves the redevelopment of Whitechapel Station (including

the temporary relocation of the ticket hall in Court Street). • C512 is also responsible for the redevelopment of shafts in the

vicinity of Durward Street and Cambridge Heath Road. These shafts link down to the tunnel level.

Community Investment Programme (CIP)

• Crossrail’s ambitious Community Investment Programme is the first of its kind for a major infrastructure project.

• It requires Crossrail construction contractors to donate their skills, time, money and expertise to bring lasting benefit to the communities in which they are working.

• The Crossrail led approach helps to deliver consistent and meaningful benefit alongside construction and beyond the life of the project.

“It was great to see people were aware of the need to get help to use a computer and expanding their knowledge so that they can bond with their children and help them with their work.” Nathan

“Taking part in this scheme was very rewarding. I saw a transition in the students, from a stage where they had very little ability in computing to a stage where they had begun to master the basics. The keenness of the students also helped to make the scheme enjoyable. Every week I was met with questions and example of work they had done in the week. For this reason alone I feel that the programme was a great one as it helping the students integrate with the modern ICT dependant world.” Callum
