LAKE CHARLES, La — The SWLA Center for Health Services will host

its 10th Annual Gala & Roast, “Celebrating Community Bridge Builders” on Sunday, September 23. The event will start at 6 p.m. in the ballroom of L’Auberge Casino Resort. “Celebrating Community Bridge Builders” is the platform used to celebrate the accomplishments and the dedication of people in the community who bridge the gaps between people and services in the community.

This year’s honorees will be Lisa Sterling Walker, owner and CEO of Health Systems 2000; Larry Graham, CEO of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital; and Tony Mancuso, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff. This affair promises to be an exciting evening filled with food, music and entertainment as Walker, Graham and Mancuso will be honored by colleagues and friends.

These individuals are modest about their work and achievements over the span of their careers, but the plaques, awards and honors they have received over the years indicate the contributions they have made to their community. Each year, the SWLA Center for Health Services sponsors the Gala & Roast where it recognizes outstanding community leaders who are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and eliminating health disparities within our communities.

Tickets for this very special occasion are $50 per person. Sponsorships, donations and in-kind services are welcome and are available at

various levels. Proceeds will go to support patient education programs at the Health Center and student scholarships. Up to four students will be awarded Eric B. Taylor Scholarships to pursue college degrees in a healthcare related field. With locations in Lafayette, Lake Charles, and Crowley the SWLA Center for Health Services has awarded scholarships to students from each parish.

Thousands of individuals in Southwest Louisiana are without basic health care coverage. This event shows the entire community, region and state that basic health care services are important for the uninsured and underinsured residents of Southwest Louisiana.

for the 3rd Annual LaFamilia Extravaganza: New York Vogue Experience, the signature fundraising event of LaFamilia Resource Center, a 501c (3) non-profit organization. This year’s event, New York Vogue Experience is scheduled for Friday, October 5th, 2012 at the Historic Calcasieu Marine National Bank.

This year’s show will feature individual store sponsored segments from two of our communities most fashion forward outfitters, Mimosa Boutique and Accessory Zone. Along with Signature Salon and Estee Lauder providing hair and make-up, this will be the fashion event of the year!

With doors opening at 7:00 p.m., LaFamilia Extravaganza’s atmosphere of sophistication and elegance will be apparent immediately. Several highlights of the event will be a live New York styled fashion show, live DJ, VIP Lounge area, silent auction, and $500.00 raffle shopping spree.

All VIP guests will be granted access to our exclusive VIP lounge for their use during the event. In the lounge, all VIP guests will have the opportunity to socialize, mingle, and network with some of
