Objectives
At the end of this session you will be able to :• State the DOT rules used to calculate a scheduled ETA in Optimiz• State the Optimiz system default rules used to calculate a scheduled
ETA • Calculate an estimated ETA• Determine whether a system calculated ETA is correct

Calculating an ETA: Milkrun ExampleTo calculate the ETA for a milk run, first determine the drive time between each stop:
Stop A to Stop B = 22.5 Miles22.5 Miles/45 MPH = 0.5 hour
Stop B to Stop C = 67.5 Miles67.5 Miles/45 MPH =1.5 hour
Stop C to Customer = 135 Miles135 Miles/45 MPH = 3 hours

Calculating an ETA: Milkrun Example
Before we determine the ETA, we have to check one final detail:
The scheduled appointment time for the last stop.

Supplier A 8 am – 10 am
Supplier B 11 am – 1 pm
Supplier C 3 pm – 6 pm
Customer 8 pm – 10 pm

Calculating an ETA: Linehaul ExampleToday is Monday. A new customer needs goods shipped from Michigan to Texas, and they need them by Wednesday. How does Optimiz determine whether or not the request can be met?
• Distance from the dock in MI to the customer in TX = 1,800 miles
• Straight through, this trip would take approximately 40 hours.
• The delivery day is calculated to be Thursday, so, the request cannot be met on time for Wednesday.

Estimated ETA for this multi stop load:
• 1 pm, Day Three
• If the first appointment occurs on a Wednesday, the load will arrive at the final stop at 1 pm on Saturday.
• Does the entity listed as Stop 3 have weekend hours of operation?
