at the Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum at 228 Mountain Ave., Ber-thoud, is open for stargazing through banker John Bunyan’s original 1930s Brashear telescope beginning at dusk on the first Friday of every month. Saturday, July 27 at 10 a.m. “Mes-sages in stone at Devil’s Backbone” Take a short hike with Naturalist Ed through millions of years of geologic history visible in and near Devils Back-bone Open Space, located just west of Loveland off Highway 34. Learn key geologic ideas and how they help reveal the stories in the rocks of this prominent landmark. The hike will be about 90 minutes and about one mile in length. Hike rating: easy. Save the date — 1st Annual Ber-thoud Open golf tournament will be held on Friday, Sept. 13 at Highland Meadows Golf Course in Windsor. The tournament is sponsored by the Ber-

thoud Area Chamber of Commerce and a college scholarship will be awarded to a Berthoud High School student. The tournament is open to everyone.

Thompson Early Childhood Pro-gram is now accepting applications for tuition-paying and Colorado preschool students. There will be a limited num-ber of slots available in the Berthoud area.
