Kindergarten Altina Excursion – Friday

Last Friday our Kindergarten students headed to Altina for their first excursion. Mrs Frazer has informed me that everyone had a great day. A big thank you to all of the Kindergarten team for organising this excursion.

Girls State Cricket Camp

What a week for our LPS Cricket team captain, Charlie Lamont! Charlie spent last week at the State cricket carnival in Maitland. As a testament to the exceptional skills of this young lady, not only was she selected to be part of the team but was also selected to captain the Riverina girls cricket team! After playing numerous games throughout the week, Charlie led the team to an extraordinary 3rd place, the highest placing ever for a girls Riverina cricket team. As a result of her talent on show at this cricketing carnival, Charlie has now been selected to play in the NSW State Team. What a fabulous achievement.

Also good luck to our Stage 3 cricket team who are playing in Bathurst today. 2018 Classes

The executive and I are currently working on classes for 2018.

The composition of classes is a very complex exercise with

many factors we need to consider. If you have a specific

request regarding class placement for 2018, you need to put

this in writing and address it to the Principal. Please note that

this request must be supported by a sound educational

reason. This must be received by tomorrow Tuesday 7th

November at the latest. Please note that this is a request

only. The Principal has the final say on the composition of

classes. Once classes are formed the only changes I

envisage will be from students leaving or enrolling at our

school.

Please also note, that as this is a K-6 school, any teachers

working at this school could be expected to teach anywhere

from K-6. Please don’t assume that a certain teacher will be

teaching in a particular grade (or Infants or Primary), even

though they may have been teaching the same grade or in

Infants/Primary for a number of years.

As planning is well under way now for 2018, it is also

vitally important that I am aware if you are intending to

leave LPS at the end of this year. Please inform me

immediately if this is your intention so as I can continue to

organise staffing.

Selective High Schools Year 7 2019 Placement

Applications for Selective High School Placement in Year 7 in 2019, open on 10 October 2017 and close on 13 November 2017 at https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-

high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7.

Habits in Focus Week 5

Meta-Learning - Understanding learning and yourself

as learner. (Reflectiveness- The strategic aspects of learning

help us to think about what we need, how we should spend our

time, what we have learnt and how to use those things to

enhance new learning.)

Resilience Developing a ‘learning tough' attitude; sticking

with and tolerating the feelings of learning. (Self-regulation:

The emotional aspects of learning recognise that there are

certain ways of behaving that help you to stay attached to the

learning and that give you the best chance of success.)

As always, I would like to reiterate to all parents that if you

have a concern or query regarding your child's education

please make an appointment to see the relevant classroom

teacher or appropriate Executive Member to further discuss

the matter. Parents are asked to address any emails to our

school email address. These emails will then be forwarded to

the appropriate teacher. It is important that concerns be initially

addressed with classroom teachers as often issues can be

addressed quickly.
