Dear Parents What a fabulous assembly put on by our Year Two class last Friday! Well done to all of the amazing Yr 2 story charactersand their script writer and director, Miss Hall. The item was a highly entertaining and innovative adaptation of The Three Bears cleverly involving teaching elements around the use of grammar and punctuation! It will be available for website viewing very soon and Yr 2 parents will be notified by SMS as soon as it is uploaded. This Friday we have a Pupil Free Day to help that long weekend become even lengthier - providing a timely mid term break for students and staff. The freeday for staff is part of the Catholic Education of WA (CEWA) acknowledgement of the many additional hours staff in Catholic schools contribute to support community events and sacramental programmes. Next week several Yr 6 students, Mr Beresford and I will be attending the special launch of Lifelink 2018. Lifelink is a project created by the Perth Archdiocese to support the many social services provided by the Catholic church. Mark Beresford has provided a fuller description overleaf. Jeannie OSullivan, our much loved Pre Kindy teacher, is retiring at the end of this term. Dear Parents

What a fabulous assembly put on by our Year Two class

last Friday! Well done to all of the amazing Yr 2 story

‘characters’ and their script writer and director, Miss

Hall. The item was a highly entertaining and innovative

adaptation of The Three Bears cleverly involving

teaching elements around the use of grammar and

punctuation! It will be available for website viewing very

soon and Yr 2 parents will be notified by SMS as soon

as it is uploaded.

This Friday we have a Pupil Free Day to help that long

weekend become even lengthier - providing a timely

mid term break for students and staff. The ‘free’ day

for staff is part of the Catholic Education of WA (CEWA)

acknowledgement of the many additional hours staff in

Catholic schools contribute to support community

events and sacramental programmes.

Next week several Yr 6 students, Mr Beresford and I will

be attending the special launch of Lifelink 2018. Lifelink

is a project created by the Perth Archdiocese to support

the many social services provided by the Catholic

church. Mark Beresford has provided a fuller description

overleaf.

Jeannie O’Sullivan, our much loved Pre Kindy teacher, is

retiring at the end of this term. We are organising a

special mass and afternoon tea for the school

ART - Maren Devine Year 3 and Year 6 have been working on pieces based on Maren Devine. Maren Devine’s style is defined by large, eye catching blooms and loose brushstrokes. Her use of contrasting colours is stunning. This activity required three detailed lessons that allowed us to layer the paint in stages. We concentrated on capturing the brushstrokes and creating an array of colours. This was particularly exciting as it allowed us to blend and mix new colours on the page. Finally, we finished by adding some pops of colour in the petals and some definition with black paint. Some of the student’s work is on display in the office, so pop in and have a look at these great pieces. Celeste Ndreca

LifeLink Day 2018 The LifeLink organisation was established by the Archdiocese of Perth in 1994 to provide for the ongoing financial and promotional support of agencies established or assisted by the Church.

LifeLink’s agencies deliver professional services & caring support to thousands of people in need throughout Western Australia each year.

The work of LifeLink is indeed a positive demonstration of: Faith in Action.

LifeLink Day 2018 will officially be launched on Wednesday 6 June 2018 during WA Week, with four year six students along with Mrs Bizzaca and Mr Beresford attending the launch.

It is appropriate that during this week of celebrating what is great about our State, that we focus on and remember people in need within the community – our ‘brothers and sisters’ right here ‘at home’ in WA.

LifeLink Day provides a wonderful opportunity for students attending Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Perth, to join together to show their collective support for the many Church social service agencies – agencies which on behalf of us all, reach out to provide practical care and direct assistance to thousands of people in need within the community each year.

For LifeLink Day 2018, our Archbishop, the Most Rev Timothy Costelloe is asking Archdiocesan primary schools to enthusiastically participate in and support a new and exciting project in this special ‘Year of Youth’.

Each child will be asked to make a gold coin donation and to design a card, which will eventually be distributed to parishioners attending Mass at local parishes during the ‘Christmas Appeal for LifeLink’ held later during the year.

The card will convey each child’s understanding of the work of one of the LifeLink agencies, and carry a message from them to someone in need in the community.
