We little knew that morning that, God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone. For part of us went with you. The day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, Your love is still our guide. And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. many family and friends who came to visit them in the Okanagan. After Ben’s passing she moved to Calgary and enjoyed being a member of Bow Valley Christian Church. She loved gardening and kept busy tending her huge garden on her son Gerry’s acreage, creating numerous beautiful cross stitch ‘works of art’ for her family members and enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Mexico, the Caribbean and Hawaii. She was ‘famous’ for her homemade apple pies and for many years she made an annual trek back to Kelowna in September to choose and bring back ‘just the right apples’ for her Fall baking – some autumns she baked over 200 pies which were generously given away to family, friends, and neighbours. The family truly appreciates the wonderful care their Mom received in her later years from the staff at Shouldice Lodge and Bow View Manor where she celebrated the amazing milestone of her 100th birthday just two months ago. Vera’s warm smile and kind gentle spirit will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Vera Lebsack October 17, 1917 - December 22, 2017 Vera Lebsack (nee Abramoff) passed peacefully from this world into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 22, 2017. Vera is together again with her beloved husband and best friend of 42 years Ben. Cherishing her memory are her loving children John (Bev) of Spruce Grove, Dan (Teresa) of Calgary, Judi of Kelowna, daughter-in-law Leslie of Calgary, her 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters, her husband Ben in 1984, and her oldest son Gerry in 2000. Vera was born in Esther, Alberta on October 17, 1917 – the youngest of 8 children of John and Mary Abramoff and she married Ben in 1942. They spent several years as missionaries in Bethel, Alaska and Vera had many fond memories of serving in the orphanage there. She loved the many years she and Ben spent farming and raising their 4 children in Bow Island, Hay Lakes and Viking.
