SCIENTIFIC & TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION

The programme for Scientific & Technological Cooperation is carried out in the frame of the bilateral “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Austria and the Government of the Republic of Serbia on Scientific & Technological Co-operation concluded in Vienna on 13th of July 2010 and is financed equally by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW) and by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Cooperation of the Republic of Serbia (MESTD). The aim of the joint programme is to intensify scientific collaboration between the two countries through promotion and support of researchers’ mobility in the framework of bilateral scientific cooperation projects.
Persons eligible for application
Researchers working at universities, universities of applied studies and all other legal entities (e.g. higher education and research institutions, companies) planning to carry out a non-profit-oriented research project within the frame of this call are eligible for application.
Application requirements
The requirement is a concrete scientific research project in which researchers from both countries aim to collaborate. The main funding of the cooperation project must be secured.
All applications must be submitted bilaterally: at the OeAD by the Austrian project coordinator AND at the MESTD in Serbia by the Serbian project coordinator.
Duration of project 2 years (January 1st, 2016 – December 31st, 2017)

Type of grant in Austria
The sending state will pay the travel expenses whereas the accommodation expenses will be financed by the hosting state (and vice versa). On the Austrian side a total sum of EUR 7,000.—(EUR 3.500,- per project year) can be applied for.
Travel expenses (Outgoing)
EUR 300,-- per trip for Austrian researchers travelling to Serbia
Accommodation expenses (Incoming)
EUR 90.-- per day for Serbian researchers coming to Austria for up to 14 days OR
EUR 1,300.-- per month for long-term visits between 15 days and 3 months maximum
Material costs of EUR 400.-- can be granted as a one-time payment in well-justified cases and only within the granted maximum budget.
Type of grant in Serbia Current rates for Austrian researchers travelling to Serbia: EUR 75.-- per day for accommodation expenses
Application in Austria
For every project a project coordinator has to be nominated, both in Austria and in Serbia. Your project partner has to submit his or her application in Serbia to the respective coordinating office and according to the local requirements and application form there.
In Austria the entire application for the research project must be submitted in English online http://wtz.scholarships.at/dms/formular/document_edge.aspx?DataFormID=1149.
The application must include the following documents (PDF format):
Brief academic curricula vitae studiorum for each Austrian project member

List of relevant publications of the last 2 years on the Austrian side Project description including the methodological part (3 to 5 A4 pages) Brief description of the partner institution Short description of the tasks of ALL project members in the frame of this specific
project
Application in Serbia The project coordinator in Serbia must submit his or her application in Serbia (address: www.mpn.gov.rs) according to the local requirements.
Applications submitted in one country only will not be considered!
Project selection
Project applications compliant with the application requirements will be evaluated by national experts. Special emphasis will be put on the following evaluation criteria: Scientific relevance of the intended research project Adequacy of the scientific method used Qualification of the project coordinator and of the Austrian project team Added value of carrying out the research project bilaterally (e.g. synergies) Potential for further or future international cooperation (in particular research
programmes of the EU) Participation of junior scientists (up to 35 years of age) in Austria Participation of female scientists in Austria
The result of the project selection will be announced presumably by December 2015.
Reporting
After completion of the project a final report must be submitted within three months (deadline: 31.03.2018) by the Austrian project coordinator. The final report must include a short, concise summary comprehensible to lay persons. The final report will be made available to researchers within this programme in similar disciplines.
