5.        How  do  you  think  your  education  and  experience  will  support  and  form  your  role  as  an  ACCSC  Commissioner  and  Board  Member?    It  is  my  goal  and  desire  to  improve  learning  and  performance  in  career  and  workforce  education  at  the  state,  regional,  national  and  international  level.      A  rich  background  in  research,  teaching  and  service  scholarship  will  support  the  depth  and  breadth  of  knowledge  of  current  board  members.    My  experience  in  the  public  sector  of  post-‐secondary  education  and  interaction  with  membership  schools  as  an  Educational  Specialist,  over  15+  years,  will  form  my  role  as  a  member  of  the  board.

 6.        What  motivated   you   to   put   forth   this   nomination   to   be   an  ACCSC   Commissioner

and  Board  Member?

My  first  motivation  was  an  invitation.      My  second  motivation  was  service  to  the  field  of  career  and  technical  education.    My  passion  is  learning  and  performance  innovation.    I  research,  teach  and  provide  service  scholarship  in  the  area  of  learning  and  performance  innovations  for  education  and  the  workforce.    I  am  a  workforce  educator.      I  grew  up  in  a  vocational  classroom  (wood  shop)  with  my  Dad.  My  trade  is  drafting  and  designed.    My  first  career  was  as  a  draftsman.    I  taught  drafting  and  Computer-‐aided  design  at  the  Community  College  level.    I  then  began  my  career  as  an  occupational  and  vocational  education  scholar  in  1994.      I  have  served  the  membership  as  an  Educational  Specialist  since  approximately  1996.    Additionally,  in  2007  –  2008,  I  co-‐authored  an  ACCSC  monograph  series.          ACCSC  Publications:    Allen,  J,  &  Allen,  D.  (2008).    Faculty  Improvement  Planning/Implementation.    Arlington,

VA:  Accreditation  Commission  of  Career  Schools  and  Colleges  of  Technology.    Allen,  J,  &  Allen,  D.  (2008).    Learning  Resource  Systems.    Arlington,  VA:  Accreditation

Commission  of  Career  Schools  and  Colleges  of  Technology.    Allen,  J,  &  Allen,  D.  (2008).    Program  Advisory  Committees.    Arlington,  VA:  Accreditation

Commission  of  Career  Schools  and  Colleges  of  Technology.    Allen,  J.,  &  Allen,  D.  (2007).    Institutional  Assessment  and  Improvement  Planning.

Arlington,  VA:  Accreditation  Commission  of  Career  Schools  and  Colleges  of  Technology.

Allen,  J,  &  Allen,  D.  (unpubished).    Developing  and  Designing  Degree  Programs.    Arlington,  VA:  Accreditation  Commission  of  Career  Schools  and  Colleges  of  Technology.

 The  success  of  ACCSC  schools  has  been,  and  will  remain,  an  important  aspect  of  my  professional  career.    Career  schools  serve  an  important  role  for  workforce  education  that  simply  cannot  be  replicated  by  or  efficiently  modeled  in  the  public  education  sector.

 7.        What  is  your  general  philosophy  regarding  accreditation?

Accreditation  must  promote  continuous  improvement,  foster  excellence,  and  provide  an  assurance  of  quality.

8.        What  do  you  believe  you  will  contribute  to  ACCSC  and  the  membership  of  schools  as  an  ACCSC  Commissioner  and  Board  Member?

 I  am  a  workforce  educator  and  scholar.      I  will  contribute  a  passion  for  learning  and  performance  innovation.    My  diverse  background  in  career  and  technical  education  will  contribute  to  the  diverse  background  of  other  members.

 9.      Please  provide  any  other  information  that  you  believe  supports  your  nomination?

Support  for  Texas  Career  Teacher:    For  the  last  10  years,  I  have  lead  a  team  to  support  Career  and  Technical  Education  in  the  State  of  Texas  by  providing  materials  to  career  and  technical  teachers  materials  in  support  of  their  student.      The  website  for  this  support  this  effort  is:  www.cte.unt.edu.      This  work  is  in  close  partnership,  and  financial  support,  with  the  Texas  Education  Agency.      It  is  our  goal  to  support  all  Texas  educators.      In  addition,  we  certify  Texas  career  and  technical  teachers  on  behalf  of  the  Texas  Education  agency.    Center  for  Knowledge  Solutions:    I  created  the  Center  for  Knowledge  Solution  at  the  University  of  North  Texas  in  2011,  below  describes  the  mission  and  goals  of  the  center:      Vivid  Description  Our  center  will  become  a  trusted  and  proven  source  of  evidence-‐based  research  in  knowledge  solutions.    The  center  will  continue  to  evolve  as  we  provide  evidence-‐based  research  with  practical  and  appropriate  knowledge  solutions  to  improve  learning  and  performance  in  organizational  systems.

Purpose  The  uniqueness  of  the  Center  for  Knowledge  Solutions  is  learning  and  performance  across  disciplines  and  professions.    Our  center  enables  our  constituents  to  implement  knowledge  solutions  for  improving  their  organizational  systems.  We  will  empower  scholars  and  scholar-‐practitioners  to  make  evidence-‐based  decisions  that  optimize  learning  and  performance  systems  to  improve  organizational  knowledge.

Goals  o Foster  a  consensus  that  knowledge  solutions  are  developed  through  learning  and  performance  innovation;

o Create  interdisciplinary  partnerships  between  scholars,  scholar  practitioners,  and  practitioners;

o Nurture  future  scholars  and  scholar  practitioners;  o Serve  as  an  incubator  for  learning  and  performance  innovation;  o Decrease  the  gap  between  theory  and  practice;  o Increase  exchange  of  knowledge  between  education  and  business;  o Develop  knowledge  solutions  platforms  to  increase  learning  and  performance;  and  o Serve  as  curators  of  knowledge  solutions  for  organizational  systems.
