Thank you ice cream after worship July 2 Thanks to all who helped cut fruit, brownies, and other goodies. Thanks to all who helped take tables and chairs out to the corner so coffee hour after 11am worship could be outside. Thanks to those who helped serve the food and beverages. Thanks especially to those who helped clean up afterward and brought in tables, chairs, goodies, and made sure it was all put away. It was wonderful! Thanks so much to Chuck Berlin who took several nice pictures of people having a great time. The next “scheduled” coffee hour at the corner will be on Rally Day, Sunday, September 10. Watch for more information as it promises to be a big day here at Calvary. What a great testament to commitment and joy. Celebration of Life Harold “Ward” Cornelius—a long-time member of Calvary who worked in the background and took care of our IT and AV gadgets, passed away February 11. He will be buried at Arlington Cemetery on Tuesday, July 11 at 11am. Come to Calvary at 10am if you would like to carpool to the cemetery. A reception at noon will follow here at Calvary in Harris Hall.

Bishop’s Bible Reading Challenge March Reading List In January Bishop Lewis suggested making a resolution to read the Bible together this year. Here is the list for this week. The link backtothebible.org/reading-guide/15/1 will give the reading for each day.

Vacation Bible School VBS is in August this year! Imagine a world where curious kids become hands-on inventors who discover they're lovingly crafted by God. Join us for Maker Fun Factory Vacation Bible School! Mark your calendar for August 21-25 from 9-11:30am! We will have some BIG end of summer fun. We offer VBS to children 2 and up, with a nursery for under 2 for volunteers. Please contact Beth Posey at [email protected] if you have questions.

Baby Play Time NEXT SUNDAY at 10am, parents are welcome to bring their littlest ones to Baby Play for those creepers and crawlers (and some walkers) at 10am in Classroom 3. Welcome On Sunday, July 2 at 8:30am worship, Nana and Marie-Noelle Frimpong because full members of Calvary. Their daughter Elise was also baptized (while celebrating her second birthday). What a great way to celebrate a wonderful day! Welcome all! On Sunday, June 25 at 11am worship, Augustus “Auggie” Lance Dougherty was baptized (pictured with parents Andrew and Kirsten, family, and Pastor Matthew.

Additional Volunteer Sought Do You Have an Hour or Two to Spare? If you are able to come in during the week to straighten the sanctuary pews, even just one week each month, please contact the church office at [email protected] or 703-892-5185. It’s not a difficult job, it just takes a little time. Training and / or instruction is provided (if needed). Our thanks to those who have helped in the past and moved away or now have physical limitations. Keeping the sanctuary neat and tidy is very much appreciated.

(and will be buried at Arlington national Cemetery sometime later this year.

We continue to pray for: Griffin Springer and his family. He is a one-year-old who

had heart surgery on Saturday, June 24, and again on Monday, July 3. Prayers for a speedy and full recovery.

Elementary Camp, which starts next week with 65 campers (11 CITS’s) and multiple college-aged staff. Please pray that these children have a marvelous time, feel God’s love, and connect to our church as a safe and wonderful place.

The family of John Gass, who passed away June 18 Congressman Sealise, Capital Police, Matthew Mika, and

other victims of the shooting this week in Alexandria on June 14.

Meet With the Pastor While the regular Sunday morning Bible studies take a break for travel and vacations, Pastor Matthew is inviting everyone to come to Classroom 1 at about 9:45am on Sunday morning. There he will answer questions, talk about the sermon for that day, or chat about the church in general. All are welcome.

Classroom 1 (9:45am): The Classroom 1 group is taking a short break for the summer, but please come meet with Pastor Matthew to talk about the sermon, or other topics you might have. Chris Haley at [email protected] will be resuming the Classroom 1 group later—watch for updates.

Classroom 2 (9:45am): Due to travel and summer obligations, classroom 2 Group is taking a break until Rally Day—September 10. Please join the Classroom 1 group, consider jumping into the Summer Choir, or take time in prayer.
