We all remember Wendy’s hamburgers slogan “where’s the beef?” from their advertising years ago. Well, at Camelot East we are saying “where’s the rain?” This has been one of the driest winters in years. As you can tell around the lake the level is down considerably. Not only has there been less rain, but the irrigation system has been working. A few of you have had questions about the lake level so I wanted to take this time to answer a few on of them. Question #1. At what point do we have to shut off the irrigation pumps as the water from irrigation comes from the lake. Answer: Maybe some of you saw a group of us in a boat in the lake a few months back. We were measuring how deep the intake line was from the surface of the lake. At that time it was more than 5 feet down from the top of the lake. If it gets within one foot from the top we will be required to shut the irrigation pumps off until the lake fills back up. One good rain and the lake does fill up quickly. Question #2. Where does the water come from that drains into the NW corner of the lake? Answer: That is the over flow water from the reverse osmosis drinking water plant we have on site. That line usually drains about 30,000 gallons of water into the lake each day. That seems like a lot but it is very little compared to the size of the lake. Question #3. How much water do we have in the storage tanks on site? We have 2 tanks that hold combined approximately 450,000 gallons of drinking water. We use around 140,000 gallons of water a day between Camelot East and Camelot Lakes. Question #4. Where do the fire hydrants get their water from? Answer: The water comes from the fresh water tanks at the Water Plant on site. The water pressure to the homes and the hydrants must be at 60 pounds per square inch. (PSI) We hope to be ...”singing’ in the rain, soon! God Bless you all! Gail Sterling

Instead of Where’s the BEEF? Where’s the Rain?

Answer: That is the over flow water from the reverse osmosis drinking water plant we have on site. That line usually drains about 30,000 gallons of water into the lake each day. Did you know...By Gail Sterling

1. There have been some rodents come into Camelot East from the sub division construction site along Proctor Road. We have contacted the State of Florida about the issue as well as the issue of burning the debris. The state has confirmed that the permit to do an open burn was acquired by the developer. They do know that the clearing of the land has produced more rodent activity at the surrounding developments. If you choose, a fox spray and other spays similar to this can be applied around your homes and should help with the rodent issue. We are sorry for this unavoidable occurrence. 2. We have just planted Palm trees along the fence at the front of the community. They look really nice. Once they grow a little more the fence won't be seen from the Camelot East side of the fence. The fence is owned by the Florida State Department of Transportation. 3. Our average sales price of a home at Camelot East is now $44,500.00. Just 4 years ago the average sales price was $15,000.00. The increase in sales price is from the community having no park owned homes and the residents remodeling their homes. Way to go residents and sales staff! 4. Included in the Sun this month is the irrigation schedule. It could change from time to time but this is the updated list as of June 1, 2017. The times are an estimated time. The schedule is set so we can have complete lot coverage with optimal water pressure for our 10,000 irrigation heads we have throughout the community. 5. Please continue to let us know when your irrigation is not working. At your service, Gail Sterling

Notes from the Social Director

Hello everyone! April was filled with some fun things for everyone. The Pool Party, All American Cookout and Trivia were a great time. Our Community Luncheon was fantastic, the food from Valentino’s was amazing. The play Jesus Christ Superstar was a very nice time. A couple of our residents really enjoyed the trip to the Tampa Bay Downs Horse races, I want to go next time! I will continue to have exciting things for everyone to enjoy. Here are some highlights of what is happening in May. Deck Party on the 5th, Derby Day 6th, All American Cookout 13th , Trivia 13th , Painting & Pizza 15th , Community Luncheon 24th and the Memorial Day Party on the 29th. We still have the 64 gallon bins for shredding. You will be able to continue to bring in all of your papers that you would like to have shredded. May the shredding begin!I wanted to let everyone know Brooke’s pageant was April 22, 2017. She did a great job. Brooke was the youngest, she competed against 16 and 17 year old girls. She did not make the top 5, however two of the judges came up to her afterwards and said it was super close, and she did great and was a beautiful girl. They encouraged her to continue with her dreams and don’t give up. She will be in another pageant July 30th and the 31st. This pageant is on a larger scale, but she will be in her age group of girls between 13 and 15. We shall see how it goes, either way it is a fun experience for her and she has made new friends. When I get the photos from the pageant director I will put them in the Sun. Thank you all for your support!Happy Mother’s Day to all you beautiful Moms!

Julie completed college with an Associate’s Degree in Travel and Tourism. She started her career in the hotel industry, then begun her travel career with a company called Hideaways International. She was there for 11 years, and loved every minute of it!The couple met at a local teenage/young adult hangout, they dated on and off and were married in June of 1987. This June it will be 30 years! They had a son Brett in 1989, Lucas in 1991 and Gregory in 1992. All 3 graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree. Ray and Julie got tired of the long winters, they had been visiting Florida many times over the years. In 2016 they sold their house of 22 years in Somersworth, NH and moved here. With extensive research they came across Camelot East, set up an appointment and found a home.

Ray started working at Camelot East as the Irrigation Specialist for 6 months. However, he was offered a job with Dentsply here in Sarasota and accepted. This company makes brackets for orthodontic braces, among other laser welded specialty products. He is the 3rd shift Manufacturing Supervisor. Julie works for Askins & Miller Orthopedics as an Insurance Authorizations Mgr. / Medical Office Specialist. Ray enjoys sports and keeps very busy as an official for High School Baseball, Basketball and Football. He has taken up reading since moving to FL and is now hooked! Julie loves to travel, explore new places, speed walking and cooking. They both enjoy the sun, beach and special time with family and friends. When I asked what do you love about Camelot East? They said “the community feel, facility cleanliness and all of the activities that you can choose to partake in, or know its ok not to. Also the surrounding area, close to the beach. They have met some great friends.” We are so glad you are here!

Denise Almy has been a resident for seven years, she is originally from Tenafly New Jersey where she lived for 25 years. Denise went to Englewood School of Nursing for 3 years and became an RN. She furthered her career

and got a scholarship at St. Louis University and got her B.S. in Nursing. She is one of eight children and the oldest girl. At times it felt like she raised the family. There are 5 girls and 3 boys. Her one brother is just 3 months apart, and her youngest sister was entering kindergarten while the oldest brother was starting college! Her father was 1 of 6 children. She is used to a very large family. Denise became a Director of Nursing in Long Term Care. In 1969 she was married and had four children with her husband Bob. He was in landscape design. Their first daughter Kim is a nurse and handles medical needs for foster children. She has two kids, Avery and Wyatt. Her son Erik sells firearms to various companies. He is an avid hunter and fisherman and has 3 kids, Hunter, Sierra and Storm. Ryan is a salesman for his company S 10 in Bradenton. He has 7 year old triplet girls, Zoey, Abigail and Katrina. Meghan is a teacher in North Port and a master florist. She has 1 daughter, Madison.Denise was married for 18 years and then divorced. The past 10 years she worked at Sarasota Memorial Hospital at the Health Care Center as the Director of Nursing. Five of her siblings live right here in Sarasota. Her Dad lived to be 100! Denise’s stepson just had a baby boy on April 15th, they named him Jameson, congratulations. Seven years ago her son Erik found her a place here at Camelot East. Denise was familiar as she did home health visits to residents. Denise is an avid gardener, nurturer, loves people, animals and plants. She also loves sewing, puzzles and arts and crafts. She used to be in the painting class here at Camelot East. Her dog Daisy is so sweet and has been to many places with Denise comforting people. When I asked the question, what do you like about Camelot East? Denise said “Support of close friends and acquaintances, and there is a sense of comfort here.” We are so glad you are here!

John Paolucci is our Head of Courtesy Patrol. He has been working here at Camelot East for 11 years! John was born and raised in the Bronx. He met his wife Mary in the neighborhood they grew up in. They went

to candy stores and ice cream parlors, soon they began dating. The couple was married in 1956 and they adopted two daughters, Lori Ann and Ann Marie. John worked for Pitney Bowes and Mary worked for IBM. One day their daughter Lori Ann came to dinner with her husband and said they were moving to Florida as her husband got a great job offer in Bradenton. She encouraged them to move to Florida. At first they said no, but they thought about it and decided to go with them. Lori Ann said there is a house across the street from them for sale. They bought it! Their very close friends Anne & Paul Provino came to visit and were looking for a place to buy in Florida. John passed by Camelot East all the time and suggested to stop in and take a look. Anne and Paul loved it here, the people are so friendly. John started looking around and said this is where Mary and I should be. Sure enough their friends bought in here and so did John and Mary. A few months later he sold his other home. They were very happy here. John and Mary were married for 60 years until she became ill and passed away.

John’s house two and a half years ago started on fire. Later to find it started from his air conditioner. Thinking he would not need insurance, he cancelled his policy about a year prior. John couldn’t believe what happened. He was thankful that John Brown at the time was walking by when the fire started and was able to save his dog. He stayed with his daughter for a few months and came back to Camelot East and purchased another home. The residents here were so caring, a lot of them got together and helped raise money for John’s new home. What an amazing story! When I asked him what he likes about working at Camelot East he said, “The people are so friendly and he loves this Community.” We are so glad you are here as an employee and a resident!

Pet rules questions?

I have had several questions about pet rules at Camelot East. I am answering some of the most asked questions below. Question #1. Do the pet owners have to pick up their doggie doo in all yards, including their own? Answer: Yes. It is required that pet owners have to pick up their doggie doo on all of our yards This is so someone, including themselves don't track it into their homes. Question #2. Where do we dispose of the doggie doo bags? Answer: The best answer would be where not to dispose of it... please DO NOT dispose of the doggie doo bags in any of the clubhouse trash containers. It creates a very offensive smell within the building. You may throw it away at your home or in the dumpster outside the clubhouse. Please make sure you “reach the dumpster" when you throw it away. I have had to clean up after you several times. Question #3. Do people with companion pets or service animals have to abide by our pet rules within the community? Answer: This answer gets complicated. No pets, service animals or companion animals are allowed in the public areas such as the pool area or the kitchen area. That is a law written by the Health Department. Service animals and companion animals are allowed, by law, to go with their owner anywhere else within the community. However, we do ask that they adhere to the rules of the Camelot East community, if possible. If ANY animal becomes a nuisance by barking excessively or attacking or biting a resident that is grounds for a possible eviction of the pet. These are some of the rules in the community that ALL animals/pets must abide by. Question #4. How does management know who has a companion pet or a service animal vs a "pet" living in their home? Answer: There is documentation that is brought in by each pet owner, service animal owner and companion animal owner. This includes up to date immunization records and the weight of the pet. The law says there is no weight limit on a companion animal or service animal. There is a 45 lbs. weight limit on pets within the community. Gail Sterling- Manager

Camelot East HOA Board Resolution 1Tickets Sales for HOA EventsEffective August 1, 2014

On March 6, 2014 Mike Koon makes a motion that ticket sales, after August 1, 2014, would go on sale and be limited to HOA members only for the first two weeks of ticket availability. After the second week, tickets will be available to all residents and guests. This motion will take effect after checking with management about the Social Fund payment. Nancy Cammack seconded the motion. The motion passed with five yes votes and one no vote.

Be it resolved that any HOA Member in good standing may buy tickets to HOA events during the first two weeks of ticket sales, beginning with ticket sales after August 1st 2014. The HOA Homeowner may assign their ticket buying rights to a seasonal renter during their occupancy of said property. If the HOA Homeowner member doesn't assign their ticket purchasing rights, the seasonal renter may purchase an associate membership in the HOA, as defined in the Camelot East HOA By-Laws, affording

the renter all HOA privileges set in the By-Laws including the right to early sale tickets. This does not affect other HOA membership rights as described in the HOA Bylaws.

Be it further resolved that this resolution is a policy statement from the Camelot East HOA Board and remains in effect until changed by a future vote of the Board.

LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE – THE CHALLENGE OF CHANGEBy Roni Antenucci, Wellness Consultant

There are three things in life that are inevitable – death, taxes and change – and we humans often battle against all three in ways that are damaging to our own well-being. Most of us recognize that we have little control over taxes so we just gripe about them. Other than living a healthy lifestyle and keeping ourselves as fit as possible, there’s nothing we can do about death. We will all experience it.

But, change – change - is very different. Over the years, I have belonged to many different professional groups, church groups, and social groups. Even if we welcome change into our lives, it can create enormous stress. Change is difficult and moves us out of our comfort range, forcing us to adapt ourselves to an altered reality.

Over the years, I have belonged to many different professional groups, church groups, and social groups. In every one of those groups, it was common for a switch in leadership to try to introduce change. And in each of those groups there was a chorus of people singing, “But, we’ve always done it this way!” So, the battles began.

Why? Fear of the unknown is frequently at the root of resistance to any change. People have gotten used to doing or having things done a certain way and have grown comfortable. They look back on the past with a kind of euphoric recall about all of it, and fear losing change might bring. Instead of embracing new life and moving forward they sometimes fixate on the past and become immersed and mired in nostalgia. The result: STRESS!So, what do we do about it? Ask yourself: Am I letting my fear of change and nostalgia for the past affect the way I live my life today? If the answer is yes, there is a solution.

• Remember and celebrate the good memories of the past with joy

• Accept that the past is gone and we need not make the present a shrine to it

• Don’t freeze life in place• Celebrate today and share your joy of living

with those around you

BOCCE SEASON FINALE

The 2017 bocce season ended with a double elimination playoff to determine park champions. The semi-finals pitted the Ageless team (Jim Bondur, Ellie Bondur, Sally

Wilson, Keith Wilson) against the Tiki Boppers (Mike Koon, Diana Koon, Darle Hagan, Maury Hagan) and Aflac (Skip Vucek, Cheryl Vucek, Jacki Ebel, Tim Ebel) against the Pistols (Norm Gosselin, Steve Sheridan, Ron Stauffer, Ed Robinson). The Tiki Boppers and Aflac moved on to the finals with Aflac emerging as park champions.

All of the games were amazingly exciting, and the fans, which totaled close to 100, witnessed the best bocce playing ever. My congratulations to all of the participants, and thank you for providing such great entertainment for all of us.

Fun Facts about May

According to the early Roman calendar, May was the third month. Later, the ancient Romans used January 1 for the beginning of their year, and May became the fifth month. May has always had 31 days. Several stories are passed around to show how the month of May was named. The most widely accepted explanation is that it was named for Maia, the Roman goddess of spring and growth. Her name related to a Latin word that means increase or growth. May is of the most beautiful months of the year in the North Temperate Zone. Usually the snow and ice are gone and the hot temperatures haven't arrived. The first garden begins to sprout in May. The wild flowers are blooming, and the trees and grasses have turned green. Wild flowers that bloom in different parts of America are the forsythia, dogwood, violets, and jack-in-the-box. Many birds have built their nests, and mother birds are sitting on the eggs, which will soon hatch.

Memorial Day or Decoration Day is observed, in most states of the United States, the last Monday in May. It is a legal holiday and is observed in memory of those who died while serving the United States in war. The graves of the war heroes are decorated with flowers. It was first observed in 1866. Mother's Day was first observed in 1908. It was designated by Presidential proclamation, and was recognized officially by Congress and the President in 1914. It is celebrated in honor of Mothers on the second Sunday of May.Armed Forces Day is celebrated the third Saturday of May. The United States honors the men and women of the military services. The Armed Forces Day Celebration combined the Army, Navy, and the Air Force in 1950. Prior to that year, they had been held at separate times. The Kentucky Derby takes place on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs, Louisville, Kentucky. It is the most famous horse race in the United States. Many Mexican Americans celebrate what they call Cinco De Mayo, on May 5th. It is the anniversary of the Mexican victory over the French at Puebla in 1862. It is a national holiday in Mexico.

• Emerald is the birthstone for May. • Hawthorn and Lily of the Valley are the flowers

for the month of May.

May Poem

The month of May, her name alone lifts up our hearts,

We honor her in special ways within our year; She grandly comes between late Spring and

Summertime,Betwixt new buds of April and full bloom of June.

The days of May lead to the middle of our year,The proof that we endured long Winter’s icy chill,And rain and wind of early Spring with fickle days

Of warmth and cold while she, from dormant seed, gave birth.

As April’s leaves of green take on a deeper hue,Her gifts like daffodils and dogwood lead the way

For lovely tulips, laurel, peonies of May,While April showers halt for warmer sunny days.

Town festivals that celebrate May’s entrance seemTo honor her in many ways and cultures too.

And 'round the world, May Day brings beauty to those towns

With fragrant blossoms, flowers picked along the way.

Our month of May—her name alone lifts up our hearts,

We honor her in special ways within our year; She is the child of Spring grown into youthful days

Before the full maturity of Summertime.

It’s love bug season again

Soon our windshields and grilles will be covered with the splattered remains of black-and-red insects. What's a car owner to do? We asked Mike Schultz, left, head of product development for Turtle Wax, for some advice. "It's very important, when the love bug season comes around, to apply a good coat of car wax to the front end of your vehicle, to the hood and the bumper," Schultz says. "I would do it every other week, just to keep the protection as high as possible to prevent those bugs from destroying your paint."Love bugs, he says, secrete an acidic substance that will etch the surface of the car. "So you have to put on a sacrificial barrier to help protect the paint underneath."If your car becomes a love bug killing machine, wash the carnage. Schultz recommends two products to clean the mess: first, the Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover to get rid of the stubborn remains. The liquid version is probably best, he says, because it's thicker. And second, if the bug acid already has done some damage, try the Premium Grade Scratch Repair Kit, he says. This kit repairs the car's finish with a clear-coat pen applicator, a set of sanding pads, lubricant and clarifying compound.

Other tips • Wash the bugs off as soon as possible. They

should be easier to remove. The longer the splatters stay on the car, the more likely paint damage occurs.

• Drive at night instead. The love bugs are most active around 10 a.m., and they don't fly after sundown.

• Use a screen over the grille to keep bugs from clogging the radiator.

• Some car owners spread a light "nonstick" film of baby oil on hood, bumper, grille and above the windshield. This makes removing the bugs easier.

Not All Roofers Are Created Equal! When choosing a business to do work on your home it is important to consider all the factors. Sometimes the cheapest option is not the best. Keep these tips in mind the next time you choose a service provider, especially a roofer.

How Many Years in Business? This demonstrates expertise in the field. If a warranty is involved it shows the company’s ability to stand behind it. If a company has been around for a long time, it is probably for a good reason.

Is There a Physical Location or Just a PO Box?We would not suggest you do business with someone who only has a PO Box as an address. This could indicate that they are not an established business.

Who is Doing the Actual Work? Are They Licensed & Insured?Does the company use subcontractors or their own employees? Employees tend to me more reliable because the business owner holds them accountable day-to-day versus subcontractors who can come and go. Verify the company is a licensed roofer and properly insured for any circumstances.

Consider More Than The Price!A roof is a durable product meant to last for years. When it comes to durable goods for your home like roofs, air conditioners, windows, etc. who installs them can be an important factor. Remember the old adage “Good work isn’t cheap...Cheap work isn’t good...”

Please note the change of color on the map! The only place you can walk your dog is in white.

Where can I walk my pet? This question is the most asked question I have as the manager at Camelot East and I want to answer it so everyone understands the boundaries and the rules. The lots around the circumference of the community are called PERIMETER lots. Over the years they have been mistakenly called pet lots. The PERIMETER lots just happen to be the only lots we allow residents to have pets in their home without a Doctors order. You do not have to own a pet to purchase a home on the PERIMETER lots. The Americans with Disability Act (ADA) mandates that the community must give “ reasonable accommodations” to residents who have either a service animal or companion pet with a Doctors orders to reside on a NON-PERIMETER lot. However, those pet owners must abide by the same rules for pet walking as the PERIMETER home owners with pets do.1. As you can see on the map all pets are to be

walked on the designated “White” areas.2. They are to have their pets on a leash.3. They must pick up their doggie waste in a plastic

bag.4. They are to have their pets on a short leash so they

do not have dog waste in someone’s hedges or flower area beside their homes.

5. The next rule most residents don’t know or don’t remember... the pet owner can only walk their pet and have their pet “ do their duty” on PERIMETER LOTS ONLY! Not on inside lots that are across the road from PERIMETER lots.

6. A pet owner must carry their pet if they want access to another PERIMETER area to walk their pet. No crossing the non- pet areas is allowed unless the pet is carried or carted to a PERIMETER area.

7. At NO TIME is a pet owner allowed to walk their pets around the LAKE CAMELOT!

8. Any dog who habitually barks and becomes a nuisance or a threat to the community and its residents will be evicted from the community, regardless if it is a service animal or a companion pet. Unfortunately, in my career as a manager, I have had to evict 2 dogs from a community.

9. If habitual violations occur the pet owner can be evicted from the community because of rules violations.

10. All immunizations records on their pets must be kept current and a copy of them must be supplied to the office to be put into the residents file. This is for health and safety reasons.

The owners and Management of Camelot East appreciate each and every home owner. We thank you ahead of time as you abide by all of the rules of the community. At your service,Gail Sterling Manager
