egendary leviathan. Like an albatross, it seemed nearly impossible that it could even take off, skimming waves at increasing speed, revving up its four engines. Inside staterooms, dining area, bunk beds. Boarding from a dock or using a ship’s tender, it was the 1930s epitome of class. This was leisure travel and luxury at the same time, never to come back in that measure.

u fully detailed cockpit and passenger cabin

etween 1926 and 1933 some 200 Trimotors were built in Ford’s own factory. Corrugated metal on great thick monoplane wings was a German development, used in Junker JU-52 planes that were flying the Berlin-Rome-London route.

he DC3 has earned the epithet “Workhorse of the Skies”. Thousands were produced from the 30s to the 50s by the Douglas Aircraft works. Military, civilian, government, private, you name it. Some are still flying!

ou can’t see the mechanic from your open cockpit. You yell ... “Contact” and the propeller jumps to life, the plane starts to shudder. The mechanic pulls away the wheel blocks and escapes. The noise is incredible, a nine-cylinder Hispano-Suiza...spewing clouds of vaporized castor-oil. Complete cacophony...the propeller is by now an invisible whirr. Out of the way, this is hands-on flight at its finest, ready for take-off! Adrenaline flows, the sky is beckoning.

he typical WWI flying ace was accustomed to wrecking a plane now and then. For good luck the propeller was turned into a clock and taken home.

he Sopwith was the mainstay fighter-plane in the British and USA air forces in the early 1900s. Brightly painted in various national colors, it ruled the skies for a number of years. Some of the propellers were later supplied by an American propeller maker.

uring the Great War of 1914-18 an art formflourished. Hand crafted creations from gifted soldiers and army personnel became known as “trench art.” Such souvenirs continued to be made by service personnel during WWII. Whatever material at hand was put to use... bullet shells, wood, fabric, and later, aircraft aluminum. Popular creations were airplane models, lighters, and clocks in all shapes and sizes.

Our clocks and flight memorabilia are perfect replicas from a time when flight was still a hands-on affair. Hand crafted in airplane aluminum. Hand buffed and polished to an Art Deco shine. Nostalgic, and chic.
