Catalog of Programs
A college catalog can often encompass all
the information students need to know
about learning at the school. Students
already attending a college can use the
catalog to choose courses and plan
schedules for coming semesters.
Course Syllabi Review
Course syllabi are an integral part of college
courses as they communicate the instructor’s
outline for how the course will be conducted, what
the goals for the course are, course policies, and
expectations. Each campus collects and reviews
syllabi at the beginning of the semester to ensure
that WCCCD’s minimum expectations have been
met.
Community Outreach
English as a Second Language instructors
participated in a community outreach at the
Downtown Campus. They provided information on
program opportunities available at WCCCD.

New National Institute of Manufacturing
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Gary Peters announced a new proposal to establish a National
Institute of Manufacturing during his keynote address at the MForesight Manufacturing Summit in
Washington, DC. Inspired by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the institute would serve as
the hub for federal manufacturing programs, promote efforts to help our workforce close the skills
gap and function as the focal point for developing a national strategy focused on ensuring American
manufacturing policy can rapidly respond to changes in the global marketplace. Through his visits
to manufacturers across Michigan, Peters has heard about the need for a unified strategy on
manufacturing to revitalize the industry and keep pace with competitors in other countries.

changes to the subcommittee
recommendation to provide a 1%
overall increase in operations funding,
and to use a modified version of the
performance funding formula that
would give extra weight to the six
colleges with the lowest taxable
values. The House recommendation
would implement tuition restraint for
community colleges at 3.2%. HB 4230
passed by a party line vote.
