Background When Kathy Ragsdale and her husband purchased Camp Stewart, their goal was to provide a fun place for young boys to build confi dence and self-worth, learn new skills, make lasting friendships, and develop independence.

Over the last 85 years, close to 50,000 boys have experienced Camp Stewart, the oldest non-denominational private camp for boys age six to sixteen in the southwestern U.S. The camp offers a full range of activities such as swimming, archery, horseback riding, tennis, climbing, music and more.

ChallengeWith the constant whirlwind of activities, Camp Stewart needed a faster, less expensive and more effective way to keep parents in the loop as to their kids’ activities and progress at camp. Flyers, mailers and posters were created using Quark® and Photoshop® and the master fi les were sent out to a local printer. “It could take a week just to get even small quantities of color materials printed. We’d wait for materials to be picked up, wait for proofs and 4-color separations to get back to us, then wait again while they were returned to the printer” says Kathy. “Not only was it a hassle and time consuming, but the cost of using the local printer limited our ability to use color in our communications with parents.”

SolutionAs a member of our FreeColorPrinters program, Camp Stewart can get printed materials out the door the same day they create them. “With our Phaser 8560/DN, I can print beautiful, two-sided, four-color photo montages of happy campers in action to send to parents along with their regular progress reports,” says Ragsdale. Camp Stewart also uses its two Xerox printers to print invitations for off-season activities, pre-registration cards, referral cards, holiday materials, and more. “The program gives us the ability to print more in color than we would be able to if we outsourced it.
