Along the way, they stopped to visit Arlington National Cemetery for the changing of the guard, the Mall in Washington, DC, Virginia Beach and King’s Dominion amusement park. This was a wonderful experience for the seniors, some who have never been to Washington, ridden a roller coaster or swam in the ocean. Everywhere we went people commented on how nice and well-behaved the group from Campbell-Savona was. Thanks for representing our community with style.

and took one final lap around the building as students and staff hugged and high-fived them.

Annual Mini-Relay for Life held The annual Elementary Mini-Relay for Life teaches our students the importance of philanthropy and supporting our community in order to be a successful citizen and make the world a better place. The event has raised almost $20,000 during the last several years, which has been donated directly to the American Cancer Society to support research to find a cure. This year our fun event was a “Kiss the Sheep” challenge; a huge hats-off to Mrs. Laura Wright, as she stepped up to the task.

Classes made banners to carry as they walked in the mini relay.

Sister Act earns many awards The 20th annual Stars of Tomorrow Recognition Ceremony was held in May. The Campbell-Savona musical Sister Act The Musical received the night’s highest honor, the Sagan Award forOutstandingMusical. Stars of Tomorrow recognizes the high school musical in true Tony® Award fashion. The program is dedicated to supporting the process of growth and learning, encouraging commitment, discipline and teamwork and acknowledging excellence. At the ceremony, the cast performed “Raise Your Voice” from Sister Act The Musical in front of more than 2,000 people. In addition to the Sagan Award forOutstandingMusical,Sister Act The Musical was honored with:OutstandingActingEnsembleOutstandingSingingEnsembleOutstandingDanceEnsembleOutstandingProductionCrewOutstandingSupportingActressfor Giavanna Reed Students Carter Crooker and Noah Puffer were recognized as Future Stars and special recognition was awarded to Jacob Freeland (Stage Manager) and Lauren Crooker (Stage Left Manager) for their dedication behind the scenes. Class of 2030 honored In the time-honored C-S tradi-tion,65studentswerepresentedtheir diplomas signifying the completion of their kindergarten year. They worked hard, played hard andshowedROARS(Respect,Ownership,PositiveAttitude,Responsibility and Safety) as they learned the foundations of early lit-eracy, math, science and social stud-ies. The ceremony ended with an amazing performance of the song “A Million Different Dreams” from The Greatest Showman with Mrs. Hayes and family along with Mrs. Harrian and Mr. Flanagan singing the verses and the whole kindergar-ten class singing the chorus. It was a beautiful day for the future!

This innovative program made its debut to the Greater Rochester area in 1999, with the main intent of bringing long overdue recognition to the high school musical and its performing arts students. High schools in a nine-county area with fall and spring productions are invited to participate in the program. Schools are divided into four divisions based on population and geographic area. Judges are assigned to specific divisions to score individual schools based on their dance, acting and singing ensemble, acting ensemble, supporting actor/actress, production crew, student orchestra, overall musical production and leading actor/actress. Awards of recognition are given to schools with the highest scores in each of the adjudicated categories, and students are given a chance to shine. We are extremely proud of our theater program and Campbell-Savona. The commitment and dedication of everyone involved is phenomenal. Being recognized with so many accolades by RBTL was a great moment.

The C-S production of Sister Act the Musical earned many awards at the Stars of Tomorrow Recognition Ceremony.
