Reflection of the Week… discussion of UbD previously provoked thoughts of standardized testing requirements and the frustration around standards taking precedent over educational experiences for the students. These thought patterns that occupied my mind prior to the current global standings only further emphasized how my ideas around teaching and learning have changed within the past month(Meghan Linekin).

Reflection of the Week… as we have been taking online courses for a while… I am thinking about how do concepts like "planning for learning", "teaching for understanding" and "the designing process" apply to the online learning environment. I believe instructors should still think through the objectives first and then select the technological features and software to support them(Huitong Mao).

Overall, I feel increasingly confused by UbD. It is difficult for me to put my finger on exactly what feels uncomfortable for me since I feel a mix of feelings (Shoshana Gottesman).

Reflection of the WeekI can teach until I think I have nothing left to give, but at the end of the day it is my job to guide students to be active learners; they need to create their own understanding from what I have taught (Kailey Schneemann).

Reflection of the WeekI love the WHERETO method as a way to inform curriculum design and instructional planning, specifically the H (hook students in the beginning and hold their attention throughout) and the R (provide students with numerous opportunities to rethinking big ideas, reflect on progress and revise their work).Emily Kellogg

Reflection of the WeekUncoverage, often referred to as "inquiry-based learning," is far more useful for students and provides for more engaging and effective teaching. With uncoverage, the teacher guides students and provides materials so students can discover the information rather than just be taught it (Stephanie Pearl).
