CAMSIZER® P4General InformationThe CAMSIZER P4 is a compact laboratory instrument for simultaneousmeasurement of particle size distribution, particle shape and additional parametersof powders and granules.
Based on dynamic image analysis by the unique, patented dual-camera technologypourable solids in the range from 20 µm to 30 mm can be measured.
Faster cameras with higher resolution, a brighter light source and improved dataprocessing capabilities differentiate the CAMSIZER P4 from its predecessors.These improvements increase the measurement speed (~ 1 - 3 minutes); allowmore precise shape analysis of small particles and an extended size measurementrange.
The extended software functionalities now include an image library containingpictures and contours of each particle and its respective shape and size readings,and a 3-dimensional diagram (3D Cloud scatterplot) of the analysis parameters.New particle shape descriptors allow for analysis of the roundness of particles.
Other well-proven functions like the certified calibration reticle, the automated airflow in the measurement zone, and the motorized funnel height adjustment havebeen preserved in the CAMSIZER P4. These functions provide simple operation, arobust and maintenance-free instrument as well as stable and reliablemeasurement results even if operated 24/7.
In combination with the optional AutoSampler efficiency can be increased by highsample throughput due to the automated sample measurement.
For online applications the CAMSIZER P4 is available in an online version.

CAMSIZER® P4VideolinkFunction PrincipleThe CAMSIZER P4 uses the principle of digital image analysis (ISO 13322-2). Thesample is transported to the measurement field via a vibratory feeder where theparticles drop between a planar light source and two CCD cameras. The projectedparticle shadows are recorded at a rate of more than 60 images per second andanalyzed. In this way almost every single particle in the bulk material flow isrecorded and evaluated. Thus, it is possible to measure a wide range of particlesfrom 20 µm to 30 mm extremely accurately, without having to switch measuringranges or make adjustments.
Thanks to its extremely short exposure times, the novel LED strobe light sourceallows very sharp images to be produced and distortion-free determination of theprojection areas. The sharp contrast allows, at the same time, details of the surfacestructure of the particles to be seen almost like through a microscope. Thefrequency of the light flashes is so high that the strobing is not visible to the nakedeye.
With the unique, patented dual-camera system a great depth of sharpness, andtherefore maximum precision across the entire measuring range, is obtained.Thezoom camera provides maximum resolution down to the fine range, while the basiccamera also records larger particles and guarantees a high statistical certainty inthe results. This ensures the excellent reproducibility of the CAMSIZER measuringresults, even if only a relatively small sample amount is available. The results aresaved in at least 3,000 size classes.
