THEREFORE the Minister of Industry by virtue of the powers vestedin him by the Canada Corporations Act, constitutes the applicantsand such persons as may hereafter become members in the corporationhereby created, a body corporate and politic in accordance with theprovisions of the said Act. The undersigned hereby apply to the Minister of Industry for the grant of a charter byletters patent under the provisions of Part II of the Canada Corporations Act constitutingthe undersigned, and such others as may become members of the Corporationthereby created, a body corporate and politic under the name of

The undersigned have satisfied themselves and are assured that the proposed nameunder which incorporation is sought is not the same or similar to the name under whichany other company, society, association or firm in existence is carrying on business inCanada or is incorporated under the laws of Canada or any province thereof or sonearly resembles the same as to be calculated to deceived and that it is not a namewhich is otherwise on public grounds objectionable.

The applicants are individuals of the full age of eighteen years with power under law tocontract. The name, the address and the occupation of each of the applicants are asfollows:

The said James A. Mallon, John C. Grasswell, Nancy I. Hanna and Elmer A. Buchananwill be the first directors of the Corporation.

The objects of the Corporation are:

To promote high standards of foster parenting.

To assist associations of foster parents in communities across Canadain carrying out their objectives.

To provide funds to assist members of the corporation to defendthemselves against legal claims made against them or their familymembers or persons they may be held legally responsible for where

such claims are made based on their having acted as foster parents,including civil or criminal actions.

To purchase insurance cost effectively or provide deductibleamounts on behalf of members of the Corporation on damageclaims that are insured against by the Corporation on behalf ofmembers.

To develop for members of the Corporation opportunities topurchase goods or services they from time to time require atfavourable prices.

The operations of the Corporation may be carried on throughout Canada andelsewhere.

The place within Canada where the head office of the corporation is to be situated is:Belleville, Ontario.

It is specifically provided that in the event of liquidation, dissolution or winding-up of thecorporation, all its remaining assets after payment of its liabilities shall be distributed toone or more qualified donees as defined under the provisions of the Income Tax Act orregistered charitable organizations in Canada that have as at least one of theirobjectives, the education of youth.

The by-laws of the corporation shall be those filed with the application for letters patentuntil repealed, amended, altered or added to.

The corporation is to carry on its operations without pecuniary gain to its members andany profits or other accretions to the corporation are to be used in promoting itsobjects.
