Welcome Messages1
Director of Education
Welcome to the Canadian
International School,
Bangladesh! The Canadian
education system is ranked
by the United Nations among
the world’s top six education
systems. It emphasizes
inquiry, stimulates curiosity,
and fosters creativity.
Now accredited with the Ministry of Education in
Manitoba, Canada, we offer a rounded curriculum
for students from Kindergarten to High School.
Our H.S rigorous program culminates with a
Manitoba High School Diploma that is recognized
by universities and colleges worldwide.
The Manitoba education program has strengths
in its continuous student assessment, a rich
curriculum that specifies student outcomes for
each subject area, and teaching strategies that
increase critical thinking and problem-solving
skills. Its focus on student-centered learning is an
educational initiative that is developing worldwide
to meet the global demands for highly skilled and
self-directed thinkers.
It is our vision to create a learning environment
that helps all students and staff to achieve
excellence. Our mission is to provide students
with a strong Canadian-based education, a focus
on global citizenship, and a safe, caring, and
respectful school environment.
All students will have the opportunity to achieve
their maximum potential through the use of varied
interactive teaching methods, high expectations
regarding academic achievement and acceptable
behaviours, and positive community involvement.
We look forward to having your child here at the
Canadian International School Bangladesh. Be
assured that your child is in good hands.
Errol J E Harris
Director of Education
Chairman
Greetings from the Canadian
International School
Bangladesh. Although the
country’s education sector
has developed greatly in
recent years, there is a
need to focus particularly
on the fields of science and
technology. I have always dreamed of establishing
an educational institute with advanced curricula
in these two fields, and I feel that the Canadian
education system has all the necessary elements
to achieve this.
The curriculum focuses on authentic and
experiential learning, through a “Hands on
Approach”, rather than straight memorization. The
acceptance of Canadian curriculum is worldwide,
and we now offer students the opportunity to
complete the requiremenets for a Canadian High
School Diploma from Bangladesh. A young child
can enrol in our school and eventually be eligible
to apply for admission to any prestigious university
around the world.
It is my pleasure to announce that, as of October
2013, we are now affiliated with the Ministry of
Education in Manitoba, Canada. With its direct
support, guidelines, and monitoring, we can
maintain our excellence in education to an even
greater degree. I am also very happy to inform you
that the Capital Development Authority, RAJUK,
has allotted us a three-acre lakeview plot on
which to build a state-of-the-art campus at the
Purbachal Green City, only seven kilometres from
our existing campus.
We have always been graced by the support
of guardians and well-wishers from the very
beginning of the establishment of CIS in 2005. We
hope this will continue long into the future. Once
again, thank you, and warm greetings to all of you.
Mohammad Kamal Uddin
Chairman

Teachers committed to your children’s educationOur faculty are a dedicated international team of professionals representing the best teaching talent in Bangladesh. They bring a diverse mix of innovative teaching strategies, along with a love for guiding and inspiring students to understand and then realize their full potential.
Our teachers encourage students to be confident
and work to the best of their abilities. They help
students make connections between different
bodies of knowledge and perspectives, and to
understand their own strengths and interests.
Their primary goal is to establish classrooms
that act as learning communities in which
understanding, respect, and civility are nurtured.
Through the process of continuous ongoing
assessment, our teachers work alongside
students to let them understand themselves,
their needs, and their individual education and
career paths.
This approach to teaching helps students to
develop a solid sense of self-worth, to not
only be scholars, but also strong, global, and
community-minded individuals who can be
successful in the many realms of the diverse
society in which they live.
At CIS we have the opportunity to participate in innovative and thought provoking activities, giving a new dimension to my learning beyond books and tests.
