VOTE NIKIFor Student Experience

OfficerChelmsford

My manifestoHi I’m Niki Phagura and I’m running for Student Experience Officer in Chelmsford.I am in the process of completing part-time MSc Project management. I graduated in BSc (hons) Real Estate Management in 2008. I was in the cheerleading squad in 2005 and I am the secretary for the Architecture Society.

You may recognise me from the SU shop, bar or office as I work for the SU. I have experience dealing with students on a daily basis on the phone, face to face, sober and drunk. I have been part of Cheerleading and Architecture Society and have organised trips and fundraiser nights. I have been a full-time undergraduate student and a part time postgraduate student so I can relate to many students. I’m friendly and approachable and always have time to listen.

More support for part-time and postgraduate students, longer book loans. Arrange site visits for architecture and construction students, turn theory into reality! Continue to involve and support international students. Have more themes and variety at the SU bar to cater for everybody. Try to make more clubs and societies to cater for everyone and continue to support the ones we have. Try to improve timetables with shorter gaps and fewer late lectures. Negotiate with the University to give commuters priority for a space in the car park. Arrange cross campus activities and nights out with transport, bringing all the campuses together Chelmsford, Cambridge, Peterborough, Fulbourn and UCP.

VOTE Student Experience Officer Cambridgeshire Candidate

The dates of the Ballot are 7th March to 10th March 2011 VOTE Valentyn for Student Experience Officer.

Thank you for taking time and reading my manifesto. Before I tell you what I would do as your Student Experience Officer, it might help if you knew a little more about me.

I started my studies at Anglia Ruskin in 2007 and will graduate this year with a BA (Hons) in International Business, my studies involved a one year exchange period in Holland (Maastricht), also a one year work placement where I held the position as a General Manager of a business in Prague the Czech Republic and an Administrative Assistant position in a manufacturing company in Bottisham Cambridge.

I am well travelled and am fluent in a number of different languages, Over the years I have learned to combat stress and have dealt with many different people from different cultures.

I would love to put my international experiences to good use and represent you!

I believe that students should not be left out of clubs and societies, I will ensure that all students whether they are Full time, Part time, International or Mature have a club or society they would join.

I think that clubs and societies can rent the Academy for private functions

I will listen and help any student(s) who wish to open a club or society of their own.

I will also give any help and advice to the current clubs and societies to function better and attract students to join.

Have some feedback or requests? I am open to hear your views, opinions and proposals. I am committed to offering a brilliant university experience to all students across campuses and make your university experience the one to remember!

Have your views heard! Better communication! More resources! Better facilities! Better Timing!

Student bar, I will campaign about having nights and social events put on at the bar.

Better facilities, faster computers and internet. Upgrading connectivity and speed is vital!

I will improve the level of communication so that you don’t have to wait for your assignments for what feels like a lifetime.

Clubs and Societies. Want to do more on campus?

Clubs and Societies. Do you have a great idea for a society?

Your University experience, Be represented! Be Included! Your Student Union! Be Heard! Get Involved!

Proposals. The talk of the campuses!

My name is Emily Millar, I have studied Psychology atthe Cambridge campus for the last three years. Iam outgoing, positive, and enthusiastic and will be 100per cent dedicated to giving you all the best studentexperience possible.

When: 7th, 8th, 9th & 10th MarchWhere: Vote on campus by paper or on lineWhy: Make your views count!

Email:[email protected] or find me on Facebook

Love to Learn

Having studied Psychology at ARU for the last three years I willdraw on my own experience and listen to the views of others. Iwant to make students more aware of the fantastic servicesalready available on campus and online.

More choice in learning; technology is changing fast. ARUshould make lectures available as recordings or ideally videosand pod casts to provide an opportunity for distance learning toaid revision.

Liaise with the Student Reps; I would like to introduce onlinegroups to enable all students to voice their opinions.

Looking to the future:I want to increase publicity of the career services for final yearstudents, such as having a career section in the Library andpromoting opportunities for work experience. I hope to providemore training schemes to help graduates stand out when theyleave ARU.

"I aim to enhance communication, employability, involvement and education at Anglia Ruskin"

Home from Home"The prospect of leaving home and meeting new people canbe daunting. After living as a student for 3 years, working as aresidential assistant and helping new students move intoaccommodation. I realise it's the simple things that matter".

New students need a guide to answer queries andinternational students to help set up bank accounts, mobile phones etc. This service must be provided forfresher's living off campus too.

Introduce an ETHICAL relationship with letting agenciesfor students going into private accommodation.

Socialising is integral to help new students settle in. I haveworked for the University bar for the last 3 years. I willendeavour to provide entertainment, continuing topromote 'Give it a Go' and non alcoholic events asalternatives.

Sports & SocietiesSport is a major part of my life; I enjoy both team andindividual sports. My involvement with ARU teams hashugely enhanced my student experience. I have been partof the Rowing, Cheer leading, netball team and am on theRugby committee.

Ensure our current clubs and societies flourish andthat new ideas are put forward to provide morechoice for students, aiming to maximise theirpotential by ensuring they have appropriatefunding, venues, and equipment.Encourage charity sports events for exampleintroducing 'Raise and give week', with the tuitionfee increases that lay ahead it is vital that studentsget the best out of their experience.

“Experience is everything"

IZZY MAXWELL WATTS FOR STUDENT EXPERIENCE OFFICER

BUILDING CHAPTERS IN YOUR LIFE—EXPERIENCE IT!

I was Founder of the Theatre Arts Society and President for 18 months. My aim was to provide students with opportunities they may not otherwise be open to. This gave me first hand experience of how the SU functions which gives me a head start on taking on an Officer role. I also had finance responsibilities working with budgets and applying for grants.

I am a Student Ambassador and was 2nd year Student Representative for my Faculty which has given me the chance to learn a lot more about how the University works and it makes me even more determined to make the right changes for the students. I am passionate, work well with people and have natural leadership qualities. University has been the most influential few years of my life and I intend to make sure every student feels the same about their University experience!
