The 3 steps in canine bed bug inspection: Our canine bed bug inspection team, consisting of a handler and bed bug-sniffing dog, will search your living areas to see if the dog detects the scent of live bed bugs and/or viable eggs, discriminating from old infestations that may include dead bugs, fecal spotting, shed skins and non-viable eggs. Our team will record their findings and provide them to you. If an infestation is confirmed, Plunkett’s will provide information on treatment options. Teamwork...   • Air conditioners, heaters, ceiling fans and bathroom exhaust fans shall be turned off 30 minutes prior to the Plunketts canine teams arrival.

    The client shall be responsible for having all rooms open prior to the K-9 Scent Detection Team entering for inspection. This will ensure that a timely and efficient inspection can be conducted by the Plunketts K-9 Team.

    Pets must me removed or moved to an area not involved in the search.

    Toys of any variety, pet food & water must be non-accessible to the canine conducting the search.

    Noise and human distraction must be minimized in order to allow the canine team to conduct a thorough and effective inspection. We ask that the search area be vacated prior to inspection.

    Please close all windows and exterior doors to minimize draft at least two ours prior to inspection.

    Please extinguish all smoking materials within the residence two hours prior to inspection. (The canine team will perform at the highest possible accuracy rate when these conditions are met).

    The Plunketts canine handler will assess the area to be inspected (if feasible).

    MORE IMPORTANT INFO!

    Due to the sensitivity of the canines respiratory system, a canine inspection cannot take place within 30 days following pesticide applications.

    The canine handler may refuse to conduct a search if the necessary preparation steps are not fol-lowed, or if he or she feels that the canines safety is at risk.

    Additional fees may apply if it is necessary to schedule a re-inspection due to poor preparation.
