Expression of Interest: Canley Vale Public SchoolClassroom Teacher – Stage 1

Expressions of interest are invited from teachers interested in a career opportunity relieving in the position of full time temporary classroom teacher of a 1/2 special needs classroom teacher from Monday 26 June to Monday 18 December 2017. The position with be located at:

Canley Vale PS is a large and dynamic school located in the heart of South Western Sydney catering to the needs of 971 students enrolled in Pre School to Year 6 and their families. The school serves a culturally diverse community with 96.2% of students identified as English as an Additional Language / Dialect (EAL/D). Chinese, Vietnamese and Khmer are the most highly represented cultures. Newly arrived students and their families are of Arabic, African and Pacific Island background. The school provides a wide range of academic and extra-curricular programs aimed at developing the ‘whole child’ and is now part of the “Early Action for Success” initiative. Sound pedagogical practice initiated by teachers engage students to gain access to a range of learning experiences, which are inclusive and differentiated to cater to individual learning needs, reflecting high expectations. The school was the recipient of the 2016 Premier’s Public Service Awards, for Improving Results in Education. Our school is currently expanding system-wide Community of Schools links to enrich student, teacher and parent/carer learning. Canley Vale Public School is supported by a dedicated P & C Association, a School as Community Centre (SaCC) program and employs four Community Liaison Officers. The school has strong ties with the community, encouraging active participation in, and contributions to, the education of all students.

Selection criteria

Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor quality differentiated personalised learning and support plans

Demonstrated success in delivering teaching and learning programs that meet the needs of students with learning difficulties

High level interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work with support staff and collaborate with specialist agencies
