CLAYMORENO. LIMITS.

THE 180MM/110MM DUAL TRAVEL CLAYMORE, PART OF CANNONDALE’S OVERMOUNTAIN STABLE OF BIKES, HAS BLAZED A WHOLE NEW CAT-EGORY OF BIKE. NOW YOU DON’T HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THE FUN OF A BIG, LONG TRAVEL BIKE ON THE DESCENTS OR THE EFFICIENCY OF SHORTER TRAVEL TRAIL BIKE EVERYWHERE ELSE. CLAYMORE OFFERS BOTH IN ONE PACKAGE.

OverMountain riders like Mark Weir, Jerome Clementz, Chris Van Dine and Aaron Chase know that theClaymore brings unprecedented versa-tility and rideability to the Big Mountain category. Out on the trail, the ECS-TC system eliminates flex and play for ultra-precise control, while a handlebar lever allows them to switch between the DYAD shock’s two modes: Elevate - a lower volume, more cross-country oriented air shock for rolling and climbing terrain, and Flow - a high volume, linear air shock for aggressive descents. Switching between the modes also alters the bike’s geometry, keeping them in the proper position for the terrain. It’s literally like being able to change bikes from trail to DH at the flip of a switch.

Claymore. Adjust your attitude.

ACCORDING TO THE EDITORS

“Amazingly enough, everything that Cannondale say about the new Overmountain line is pretty much dead on, they have redefined all mountain. These bikes seem so ahead of anything out there right now it’s hard to believe.

“Cannondale has hit a home run this time. The industry will probably take a couple years to catch up.” – Decline Magazine 5/11

REAR SHOCK TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS

1. DYAD RT2 SHOCK

The DYAD is the first shock that provides two completely different shock options in one package –Elevate and Flow. Each mode has its own air spring volume, each with its own completely separate damping circuits. It is fundamentally like having two different shocks available to you at the flick of a switch. In the 180mm Flow setting, the shock’s L.A.S. (linear airspring technol-ogy) provides a spring rate that is virtually identical to a coil spring and mates it with speed sensitive damping circuits tuned for maximum descending performance. In the 110mm Elevate setting, the air spring volume is reduced, providing a firm, progressive spring rate, mated to damping circuits optimized for trail riding and climbing performance.

2. ATTITUDE ADJUST

It’s pretty obvious that attacking steep climbs requires a different attitude than charging aggressive descents, but “Attitude” is also an aircraft term that refers to the angle of a craft relative to the horizon. The Claymore offers riders two ways to adjust their “attitude”. First, the two-position shock mount allows the base geometry to be adjusted to suit the terrain and riding style. Then switching between the DYAD shock’s two settings radically alters the Claymore’s geometry: low and stable for flowing descents, steep and forward for efficient climbing.

3. TWO POSITION SHOCK MOUNT

The Claymore’s versatility starts with two shock mounting options. Changing between the two positions changes your BB height by 1.2cm and your head angle by a full degree. Choose the geometry that best suits your terrain and riding style, and let the DYAD’s dual nature do the rest.

4. ECS-TC (ENHANCED CENTER STIFFNESS-TORSION CONTROL) SYSTEM

The ECS-TC System is the key to the the Claymore’s rock solid feel and ultra precise handling. The shock linkage and swingarm pivot use 15mm thru-axles which are clamped on both sides, effectively tying the two sides together and dramatically increasing the system stiff-ness. Wide bearing placement, double bearings at rear dropouts and a unique linkage-bearing preload system eliminates freeplay in the rear suspension, improving center-stiffness and enhancing control.

5. PULL SHOCK DESIGN

The pull shock design of the Claymore places the shock’s mass just above the BB keeping the bike’s center of gravity low and centered and making the bike both extremely stable and supremely flickable. It also equalizes forces and concentrates stresses in the super strong BB node.

6. CANNONDALE SMARTFORMED ALUMINUM

Cannondale’s trademark double-pass smooth welds, and SmartFormed, septuple- butted, heat-treated 6069 series aluminum. The down tube alone has seven different wall thicknesses, created by butting the tube along its length, then mechanically shaping the tube, then hydro-forming it into the final shape. Incredibly labor intensive and difficult, it shows Cannondale’s continued mastery of the aluminum arts.

7. BOX SECTION CONSTRUCTION

To maximize strength and stiffness while reducing weight in crucial high-load areas, the BB node, shock link and seat stay bridge are hollow, box-section construction. The two halves of each piece are forged, precision-machined, welded together and heat- treated, form-ing extremely stiff, strong and light structures. Difficult, costly, and time consuming, it is details like these that make the Claymore truly exceptional.

8. X-12 THRU AXLE

Another example of our System Integration philosophy, the X-12 thru axle and dropout system provides the stiffness of a 12mm thru axle with the quick wheel changes and ease of use of a quick-release wheel. Compatible with both 142mm and 135mm thru-axle wheels.

9. UNINTERRUPTED SEAT TUBE

Forget interrupted seat tube designs; a full seat tube provides the maximum possible structural strength and allows for full seatpost height adjustment.

10. CLASHNIKOV TOP TUBE

The Clashnikov top tube, with its distinctive vertically tapered seat tube yoke and massive diameter at the head tube delivers tremendous stiffness and strength to the top tube/seat tube and top tube/head tube junctions, while its ultra low standover height permits maximum maneuverability.

11. DIABLO SI HEAD TUBE

Sometimes bigger really is better. The 66.6mm outer diameter of the head tube provides exceptional stiffness for precise handling and burly, confidence-inspiring strength. Headset cups are eliminated saving weight. The 1.5” steerers are significantly lighter, stiffer and stronger than tapered steerers.

JEKYLL CARBON/JEKYLL ALLOY ATTITUDE. ADJUST.

ONE BIKE. TWO PERSONALITIES. BOTH KICK ASS.

The 150mm/90mm dual travel Jekyll is another in our stable of go-anywhere, ride-anything, two-bikes-in-one OverMountain superbikes. Built around radical new shock technology, Jekyll essentially delivers two different bikes in one. Climb like you’re on an XC bike, descend like you’re on a big mountain rig; the Jekyll breaks the rules for long travel trail bikes.

The ECS-TC system eliminates play and flex for instantaneous response and control, while a handlebar lever lets you switch between a lower volume, cross country air shock for rolling and climbing terrain, and a high volume, linear air shock for aggressive descents. Switching between the modes also alters the bike’s geometry, appropriately changing the handling and keeping the rider in the proper position for the terrain.

Cutting edge carbon technology creates a lightweight and nearly inde-structible frame while sophisticated kinematics and linkage design maximize center-stiffness and optimize suspension performance. No other bike on the market can deliver such no- compromise performance across the whole range of mountain terrain. In fact, the Jekyll is so competent that Mark Weir has ridden the same bike to podium finishes in downhill events like Urge Cabo Verde and a top ten Pro cross-country finish at the Napa Dirt Classic.

Jekyll. Adjust your attitude.

ACCORDING TO THE EDITORS

2010 Winner Editor’s Choice Award – Outside Magazine, USA

“Might just be the ultimate mountain bike.” – Bike, USA

“This bike changes the trail riding experience and takes mountain biking to a whole new extreme” “There’s truly no other bike that can compete against the Jekyll Ultimate.” – Bicycling, USA

REAR SHOCK TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS

1. DYAD RT2 SHOCK

The new DYAD is the first shock that provides two completely different shock options in one package –Elevate and Flow. Each mode has its own air spring volume, each with its own completely separate damping circuits. It is fundamentally like having two different shocks available to you at the flick of a switch.

In the 150mm Flow setting, the shock’s linear airspring technology (L.A.S.) provides a spring rate that is virtually identical to a coil spring and mates it with speed sensitive damping circuits tuned for maximum descending performance. In the 90mm Elevate setting, the air spring volume is reduced, providing a firm, progressive spring rate, mated to damping circuits optimized for trail riding and climbing performance.

TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS

2. ATTITUDE ADJUST

Switching between the DYAD shock’s FLOW and ELEVATE settings radically alters the Jekyll’s geometry and “attitude”: low and stable for flowing descents or steep and forward for efficient climbing. The DYAD’s Elevate setting reduces the sag point and raises the BB, mak-ing the steering angle steeper and keeping the rider in a more efficient position. This counteracts the tendency of normal long-travel shocks to compress deeper into their sag as the terrain points up, forcing the rider to forward to keep the front wheel weighted.

3. ECS-TC (ENHANCED CENTER STIFFNESS-TORSION CONTROL) SYSTEM

The ECS-TC System is the key to the the Jekyll’s rock solid feel and ultra precise handling.

4. BALLISTEC CARBON

High-strength fibers developed by the military for ballistic armoring, and impact-resistant hot-melt resins are used as the primary structural materials of the frame, while high-modulus carbon fibers are used to strategically enhance stiffness. Lighter and stiffer than aluminum, stronger and more durable than steel, BallisTec carbon can shake off rock strikes and impacts that would cripple the competition and their carbon “shields”.

5. EXPANDABLE CORE TECHNOLOGY (ECT)

Carbon fiber construction gets its strength and stiffness from the precise orientation of the fibers in a structure. Instead of the flexible bladder used in traditional “balloon-in-a-mold” methods, our ECT method of carbon construction uses a special process to hold the fiber strips perfectly in place during molding. This process eliminates car-bon “drift” during molding yielding greater strength, less weight and greater reliability.

Labor intensive and difficult, it shows Cannondale’s continued mastery of the aluminum arts.)

6. CO-MOLDED ALUMINUM BB NODE

To maximize strength in the crucial, high-load BB/shock mount area we co-mold a high-strength, high-precision, heat-treated CNC’d aluminum BB node into the frame. We pioneered co-molding technology with our Six13 and Scalpel carbon/aluminum frames and have evolved it over the years to bring it to this point. High-strength, non- conductive structural fibers at critical joint areas eliminate any chance of gal-vanic corrosion and structural degradation. The bond formed between the carbon and the aluminum is actually stronger than the bond of carbon to itself.

7. PULL-SHOCK DESIGN

The pull-shock design of the Jekyll places the shock’s mass just above the BB keeping the bikes center of gravity low and centered and making the bike both extremely stable and supremely flickable. It also equalizes forces and concentrates stresses in the super strong BB node.

11. SI HEAD TUBE

Sometimes bigger really is better. Cannondale’s trademark Si head tube provides exceptional stiffness for precise handling and burly, confidence-inspiring strength. Headset cups are eliminated, saving weight. The 1.5” steerers are significantly lighter, stiffer and stronger than tapered steerers.

12. FULL-SIZED WATERBOTTLE

The open front triangle design with wide shock-link bearings and sculpted link allows the use of a full sized waterbottle, perfect for short rides or extra capacity for the full day epics.

RZ ONE-TWENTY JUST. RIGHT.

SIMPLICITY HAS ITS MERITS. THE RZ ONE TWENTY IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THIS PHILOSOPHY. THE CULMINATION OF YEARS OF DUAL SUSPENSION EXPERTISE, THE EXTREMELY REFINED MODIFIED SINGLE PIVOT SUSPEN-SION DESIGN OF THE RZ ONE TWENTY COMBINES PLUSH, EFFICIENT SUSPENSION WITH A SUPER LIGHT, SUPER STIFF SYSTEM INTEGRATED CHASSIS TO DELIVER A RIDE THAT IS BALANCED, POISED AND FUN.

120mm of balanced front and rear travel combined with impeccable handling make the light, efficient RZ platform the ultimate bike for long trail rides or your favorite marathon event.

ACCORDING TO THE EDITORS

“It’s no exaggeration to say that out on the trail, I was blown away by how good the RZ120 was. … Can I gush any more about this bike? Perhaps the most telling comment I can pass on is that if I had to have just one mountain bike in my life, then I’d very probably pick this one.”

– Singletrack Magazine 9/2010

TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS

1. STAGED TRAVEL

Specifically customized shocks are paired with a precisely engineered swing link to deliver 120mm of staged travel – plush in the early part of the stroke, more linear through the middle for efficient pedaling and smooth action, and firm at the end to prevent bottoming.

2. SIZE-SPECIFIC LINKAGE

Suspension is a tricky thing. Subtle changes can have a big impact on the system’s performance. So rather than simply repositioning our shock mounts lower to gain the standover needed on smaller frames, we created an entirely different linkage so that the smaller frames maintain the leverage ratios and shock performance of the larger frames.

3. OPI BACKBONE

With Cannondale’s One Piece Integration approach, we create lighter, stiffer, stronger parts by combining multiple pieces into a single unit. On the RZ’s BackBone, the seat tube, BB shell and swingarm pivot are 3D forged as a single piece, eliminating excess material and heat affected zones, and providing uniform grain alignment throughout for exceptional strength in this crucial area.

4. SUPERB HANDLING

The RZ’s geometry splits the difference between our more aggressive Jekyll and racy Scalpel. Quick enough for technical trail riding, stable enough to keep you out of trouble when dropping that sketchy section at the end of an all day epic.

5. CANNONDALE SMARTFORMED ALUMINUM CONSTRUCTION

Whether it’s our trademark double pass smooth welds or the sophisti-cated butting and shaping of the tubes, the RZ One Twenty is a show-case of Cannondale’s years of aluminum mastery.

6. 1.5” SI HEAD TUBE

Our ultra strong 1.5” Si head tube features integrated bearings, elimi-nating the weight of headset cups and allowing full System Integration with the unbeatable Lefty or standard 1.5” steerer forks. 1.5” steerers are lighter, stiffer and stronger than tapered steerers.

7. BB30 SYSTEM

The soul of System Integration, the Cannondale-pioneered BB30 stan-dard is found on all RZ One Twenties.

8. DOWNTUBE WATERBOTTLE ON ALL SIZES

Uncluttered and open front triangle design leaves room for a water bottle within hands reach on all sizes.

Available For Women

Our Women’s line includes the 120mm travel Lexi, the lightest weight 120mm travel women’s specific full suspension bike on the market.

SCALPELCUTTING. EDGE.

THE SCALPEL IS THE LIGHTEST, STIFFEST, MOST RESPONSIVE DUAL SUS-PENSION XC RACE BIKE IN THE WORLD. BLENDING THE CUTTING-EDGE CARBON CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES USED ON OUR RECORD-SETTING FLASH FRAMES WITH THE ZERO PIVOT TECHNOLOGY OF PREVIOUS SCALPEL DESIGNS HAS CREATED THE ULTIMATE CROSS-COUNTRY RACE WEAPON.

SUPER LIGHT

At just 1580 g (3.47 lbs) for a complete, painted frame (with shock!) the new Scalpel doesn’t just beat the competition in the weight wars, it obliterates them. Nothing else is even close.

SUPER STIFF

Of course, being the lightest means nothing if stiffness or durability is sacrificed so, in addition to being over 3⁄4 of a lb lighter than its pre-decessor, Scalpel also outperforms in the stiffness department, posting some of the best stiffness numbers ever recorded in Tour magazine’s independent third-party tests.

SUPER SPEC’

Add in the System Integration of our ultra-light Lefty fork, OPI Stem/ Steerer, and BB30 Hollowgram SL crankset, and you have a package that is so much lighter, so much stiffer and so much more efficient than our competitors, it’s not just in a class by itself, it’s attending an entirely different school.

VICTORIES AND AWARDS

- Winner 2010 Italian Mountain Bike National Championship- Winner 2010 Masters Mountain Bike World Championships (Mens 45-49)- Winner 2010 La Ruta de los Conquisatadores- 2010 Full Suspension Bike of the Year – Ciclismo Italy

TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS

1. ZERO PIVOT

The heart of the Scalpel design is the Zero Pivot rear stay system. No bearings, no bushings, nothing to add weight or cause play, just chain stays and seat stays engineered to flex along a given path, providing 80mm of plush, progressive travel. Through sophisticated carbon layup, the stays are designed to flex vertically, while remaining extremely stiff laterally and torsionally.

2. BALLISTEC CARBON

Cannondale’s, high-strength, high-impact carbon. Ultra high-strength fibers developed for military ballistic armoring and impact-resistant hot-melt resins are used as the primary structural materials of the frame, while high-modulus carbon fibers are used strategically to enhance stiffness. Lighter and stiffer than aluminum, pound for pound sronger than steel, BallisTec carbon can shake off rock strikes and impacts that would destroy Scalpel’s lightweight competition.

3. TUBE2TUBE CONSTRUCTION

Each tube is individually laid up, orienting the unidirectional fibers precisely to resist the tube-specific loads, then the tubes are joined and overwrapped following an equally precise layup schedule. Time consuming, demanding and expensive, this process yields the lightest, stiffest and strongest results.

4. ONE-PIECE STAY ASSEMBLIES

To maximize strength and consistency at the crucial BB/chainstay junc-tion, both chainstays and the entire BB shell are molded as one piece. The seatstay/upper bridge assembly is also molded as a single piece. Lighter, stiffer and stronger.

5. BB30

The soul of System Integration, Cannondale invented the BB30 stan-dard 10 years ago to take crank and frame performance to the next level. Our Hollowgram SL crankset remains the lightest, stiffest pro-duction crankset on the market.

6. OVERSIZED DOWN TUBE

The massive 60mm diameter down tube provides a rock solid base for power transfer and stable handling.

7. INTEGRATED E-TYPE FRONT DERAILLEUR MOUNT

Shimano and SRAM compatible mount and cable routing.

8. SI HEAD TUBE

Sometimes bigger really is better. In addition to allowing System Integration with the Lefty front suspension systems, Cannondale’s trademark Si head tube eliminates headset cups for weight savings and provides exceptional stiffness for precise handling and burly, confidence-inspiring strength.

9. UNINTERRUPTED SEAT TUBE

Forget interrupted seat tube designs; a full seat tube provides the maximum possible structural strength and allows full seatpost height adjustment.

HARDTAIL

FLASH CARBONSPEED. RACER.

THE CANNONDALE FLASH: 950 GRAMS OF CARBON. TONS OF INNOVATION.

A carbon hardtail that’s lighter than most elite carbon road bikes.

An ultralight carbon frame that’s tougher than most aluminum moun-tain bike frames.

A frame that breaks the mythical 100 Nm/deg/Kg stiffness-to-weight barrier.

A stiff carbon hardtail that delivers more vertical compliance than the softest titanium frames.

The Flash combines radical technologies with innovative engineering to deliver a product that simply turns conventional thinking on its head. An ultra light frame that’s also durable? An ultra stiff and efficient frame that’s also supple and comfortable? Traditional thinking says that to excel in one area, you must sacrifice in another. Cannondale thinking tells traditional thinking to stuff it.

One of the world’s lightest mountain frames, at just 950 g*, the Flash Carbon has the world’s best stiffness-to-weight ratio** of 103 Nm/deg/kilogram. Add the SPEED SAVE vertical compliance system, BallisTec high-impact carbon fiber technology, Lefty and BB30 System Integration and Flash becomes the absolute pinnacle in carbon hardtail amazingness. Look no further. Flash.

TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS

1. BALLISTEC CARBON

With our high-strength, high-impact carbon construction, BallisTec ends the traditional connection between ultra-light carbon frames and fragility. Over. Period. End of story.

Ultra high-strength fibers, developed for military ballistic armoring, and impact-resistant hot-melt resins are used as the primary struc-tural materials of the frame while the stiffer but more brittle high-modulus carbon fibers are used strategically in protected locations to enhance stiffness. Lighter and stiffer than aluminum, pound for pound stronger than steel, BallisTec carbon can shake off rock strikes and impacts that would cripple the competition and their carbon “shields”.

2. TUBE2TUBE CONSTRUCTION

When it comes to minimizing weight and maximizing stiffness, our Tube2Tube construction simply can’t be beat. Each tube is individu-ally laid up, orienting the unidirectional fibers precisely to resist the tube-specific loads, then the tubes are joined and overwrapped follow-ing an equally precise lay-up schedule. Time consuming, demanding and expensive, this process yields the lightest, stiffest and strongest results.

3. CONTINUOUS CARBON

Uninterrupted stiffening fibers run the entire length of the top tube and seat stays, distributing loads more evenly throughout the frame.

4. SHAPE-OPTIMIZED TUBING

Stripped down to its bare essentials, each tube represents the maxim of “form follows function”: oversized 53mm round down tube for maximum torsional rigidity, horizontally oversized top tube for lateral rigidity and ovalized Delta seat tube for maximum BB area stiffness. The straight tubing on the Flash shaves the most weight possible by enabling the carbon fibers to pull absolutely straight, which increases the performance of the fibers.

5. SPEED SAVE VIBRATION ELIMINATION TECHNOLOGY

The chain stays, seat stays and seatpost on the Flash all feature our trademark SPEED SAVE technology. Flattened cross-sections and sophisticated carbon layup allows the SPEED SAVE features to act like a micro-suspension system, deflecting vertically to absorb trail shock and vibration, while staying extremely rigid laterally for power transfer and confident cornering.

6. OPTIMIZED HARDPOINTS

Flash uses postmount disc brake mounts to save the weight of the adapter and reduce the system weight of the complete bike. Our alloy dropouts and disc mounts are lighter and stiffer than most carbon dropouts, but still have the capability of dissipating heat from the disc brake mounts during race-like conditions. Weight saving direct-mount front derailleur point is compatible for Shimano and SRAM.

7. SYSTEM INTEGRATION

The Flash is designed around 2x10 drivetrains, ultralight Lefty forks and BB30 Hollowgram SL cranks for the lowest possible overall system weight and highest possible performance.

8. 1.5” SI HEAD TUBE

Our ultra light, ultra strong 1.5” Si head tube features integrated bear-ings, eliminating the weight of headset cups and allowing full System Integration with the unbeatable Lefty forks.

HARDTAIL

FLASH ALLOYSPEED. METAL.

MODELED AS AN ALUMINUM CLONE OF OUR BOUNDARY BREAKING FLASH CARBON, THE FLASH ALLOY PERSONIFIES THE “LESS IS MORE” PHILOSOPHY. WITH A 6061 ALUMINUM TUBESET OPTIMIZED FOR LIGHT WEIGHT AND HIGH PERFORMANCE AND INCORPORATING SI FEATURES SUCH AS THE 1.5” SI HEAD TUBE, BB30 SYSTEM AND SPEED SAVE MICRO-SUSPENSION REAR STAYS, THE FLASH ALLOY IS EVERYTHING YOU NEED AND NOTHING YOU DON’T. PURE AND SIMPLE.

TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS

1. SINCERE IMITATION

Flash Alloy is our highly successful Flash Carbon rendered in 6061 alu-minum. Tipping the scale at a mere 1450 g for a large, it’s lighter than many of our competitors’ carbon offerings.

2. CANNONDALE SMARTFORMED ALUMINUM

Flash Alloy’s 6061 tubing is the cutting edge in aluminum crafting, featuring shaping and oversizing at the more stressed areas of the frame to increase strength, rigidity and torsional resistance, and heat-treated to a T6 hardness for strength and durability.

3. 1.5” SI HEAD TUBE

Our ultra strong 1.5” Si head tube features integrated bearings, elimi-nating the weight of headset cups and allowing the use of either 1.5” steerer forks, or full System Integration with Lefty or HeadShok.

4. SMOOTH WELDS

Where other manufacturers patch welds with putty and paint, a Cannon-dale weld is a true smooth weld. Cannondale’s trademark double-pass smooth weld technology eliminates the stress-risers and weak points found on traditionally welded frames, enabling us to build lighter, stronger frames.

5.SPEED SAVE VIBRATION ELIMINATION SYSTEM

Optimized chain stay and seat stay shaping provides lateral rigidity while providing vertical compliance for bump absorption and comfort with no loss in power transfer, and improve rear wheel traction.

6. BB30 SYSTEM

Designed by Cannondale 10 years ago, the ultra lightweight, ultra stiff BB30 bottom bracket system has become an industry standard for power transfer, light weight and performance.

HARDTAIL

TRAIL SLTRAIL. BLAZER.

THE TRAIL AND TRAIL SL MAY BE THE ”VALUE” BIKES IN OUR MOUNTAIN LINEUP, BUT THEY MIGHT JUST BE THE MOST IMPORTANT. LIKELY TO BE A FIRST “NICE” BIKE PURCHASE, CANNONDALE UNDERSTANDS THAT FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE CRUCIAL.

We pack the Trail bikes with features and technology derived from its upper end sibling, the Flash, so it has a distinctly high-end, racy, look and feel. In fact, the Trail rivals anything available on the pro race circuit just a few years ago.

We know that someone’s first few experiences out on the trail can spell the difference between a one-time buyer and a life-long cyclist. We’re out to make cyclists.

TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS

1. RACE GEOMETRY. RACE PERFORMANCE

Trail SL is a racer through and through. It shares the geometry and many of the features of its Flash brethren.

2. OPTIMIZED 6061 ALLOY CONSTRUCTION

Trail SL and Trail’s 6061 aluminum tubing is crafted with mechanical forming technology which allows complex shaping and oversizing at the more stressed areas of the frame. The result is increased strength and remarkable weight savings that make for a lightweight, super enjoyable ride. The SL version benefits from refined butting that saves almost 200 g.

3. TRUE SMOOTH WELDS

Where other manufacturers patch welds with putty and paint, a Cannondale weld is a true smooth weld. Cannondale’s trademark double-pass smooth weld technology eliminates the stress-risers and weak points found on traditionally welded frames, enabling us to build lighter, stronger frames.

4. 1.5” HEAD TUBE

Externally machined 1.5” head tube provides a lighter stiffer front end for point-and- shoot steering. (Trail has a standard 1-1/8” head tube).

5. SAVE STAYS

Optimized chain stay and seat stay shaping provides lateral rigidity while providing vertical compliance for bump absorption and comfort with no loss in power transfer.

6. BEST IN CLASS WEIGHT

Lightest in class at 1600 g frame weight including paint and hardware (SL, size L)

TRAIL WOMEN’S

Our Women’s line includes Trail SL and Trail models with women’s spe-cific geometry and features.

FULL SUSPENSION 29’ER

SCALPEL CARBON 29’ER/SCALPEL 29’ERBIG WHEELS KEEP ON ROLLIN’.

IT’S TRUE: THEY DO. BECAUSE EVEN IF 29’ER RIDERS AREN’T ABLE TO ARTICULATE IT, THEY KNOW ONE THING FOR CERTAIN: 29’ERS HAVE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS ON THEIR SIDE. THERE ARE SEVERAL REASONS FOR THIS.

ROTATIONAL MOMENTUM:

Die-hard 29’er aficionados are right when they say that the design inherently conserves rider energy. 29’er wheels have slightly more mass than 26-inch wheels, due to longer spokes, larger tires and bigger rim circumference, and once those wheels are in motion, momentum from rotational mass can carry riders through tough sections that would stop a 26-inch wheeled bike. Net effect? Riders conserve energy and ride faster. While it does take slightly more energy to spool up larger wheels, once they are at speed it takes a lot more to slow ‘em down, too. The bottom line is that many riders use smaller energy inputs to keep that 29’er rolling like a freight train. At the end of the trail, at the end of the ride, you’ll feel the difference.

BETTER TRACTION:

A bigger contact patch with the trail means better control, better trac-tion, and better braking. It’s sure-footed confidence in any situation. Climb like a diesel, turn like an F1, and handle everything else on the trail like a rally car.

ANGLE OF ATTACK:

Simply put, riders on 29’ers can clear sections of trail that have given them fits in the past on little-wheel bikes. Why? The tire’s approach angle is lessened on a 29’er for better rollover and float. The larger wheel approaches obstacles on the trail – rocks, roots, ruts, whatever – with a shallower angle. That shallow angle lets the wheel roll right over obstacles that would slow down a smaller wheel. The result is less jarring, less fatigue and less likelihood of going over the bars. Instead, riders get that characteristic ‘float’ that 29’er converts rave about.

BB PLACEMENT:

When it comes to BB placement, Cannondale 29’ers are really pretty ideal. Because of the bigger wheels, the BB sits slightly higher than on a 26-inch bike, giving better stump-clearing performance. But a 29’er BB has significantly more “drop” than a 26’er, meaning that the BB sits much lower relative to the axles, providing super stable but agile handling that allows riders to maintain maximum speed with complete control and complete confidence.

A higher BB allows riders to clear tough obstacles better, such as a tree down across the trail. A lower BB gives confidence-inspiring sta-bility. On Cannondale’s 29ers, you can get the best of both.

THE ALL NEW SCALPEL 29’ER. 100MM OF SUPER-LIGHT, ROCK ‘N ROLLIN’ BIG WHEEL GOODNESS.

Ever since we built our first 29’er hardtail, Cannondale fans around the world have been clamoring for us to build a full suspension ver-sion. Easy, right? The simple path would have been to just take one of our existing designs and stretch it to accept those big 29’er hoops but, we’re Cannondale. It’s not about the easy path. It’s about the right path. If we are going to build a 29’er dual-susser, we are going to do it right. To create this sweet new ride, we started with the pro-verbial clean sheet of paper. We then took elements from our Flash 29’er, Scalpel, RZ, and OverMountain bikes. We tweaked, massaged and mixed them into an entirely new, ground-up 29’er-specific chassis designed to address the three biggest issues that plague most 29’ers:

WEIGHT. STIFFNESS. HANDLING.

Weight? Check. At just 1850 grams, the new Scalpel 29er is the lightest 29’er dual suspension frame on the market by a big margin. Combine that with the weight savings possible with the System Integration of the Lefty fork, OPI stem and Hollowgram SL cranks and you’ve got a package that will have most 26” bikes wishing they could cut back on the cheesecake.

Stiffness? Oh yes. BallisTec Carbon construction and ECS-TC stiffness-enhancing features borrowed from our OverMountain bikes ensure that the snappy feel and immediate power delivery of the 26” Scalpel con-tinues in its 29” namesake.

Handling? Something we’re particularly proud of. Through performance-driven engineering, the Scalpel 29’er has geometry and trail manners that mimic the stable, but nimble feel of our Flash Carbon hardtails, not an easy task when you’re adding 100mm of travel.

This new 29” trail rocket shares DNA, technology, ride feel, and a name with bikes that have come before it, but in the end, the Scalpel 29’er stands alone. Rock On.

No hypens needed. No footnotes. No caveats. The Scalpel 29’er frame weighs 1850g without shock, undercutting our competitor’s bare frame weights by more than 200 grams. It’s the lightest in the world, bar-none: 29-inch wheels. 100mm of suspension, front and rear. Advanced carbon frame construction. Only from Cannondale.

2. ZERO-PIVOT SEATSTAYS

The Scalpel 29’er borrows liberally from the time- and race-tested design of the original Scalpel, placing ultra-lightweight Zero-Pivot technology into the seatstays. Through precise use of fiber orienta-tion and sophisticated carbon layup, the stays are designed to flex vertically, while remaining extremely stiff laterally and torsionally for premium power delivery. (Alloy versions receive the ECS-TC doubled bearings, like the Jekyll, in the dropout pivots in place of Zero-pivot flexing stays.)

3. C-SPAN SEAT STAY BRIDGE

The seat stays of the Scalpel 29’er are connected to each other by a beefy, bolt-on bridge, which also acts as the axle clamp for the over-sized shock link thru-axle. This ties the two stays together and drasti-cally reduces flex. The resulting seat stay and link stiffness is one of the key factors in the Scalpel 29er’s rock-solid feel.

4. SHORTER SI HEAD TUBE

A shorter version of Cannondale’s trademark Si head tube provides better standover clearance with the big wheels. A new spacer system ensures seamless compatibility with the Lefty forks.

5. 100MM LEFTY 29’ER

Most of the models come with a new 100mm travel Lefty that has been optimized for use with 29’ers. In either carbon or OPI alloy structure, with XLR or PBR dampers, the Lefty’s unmatched stiffness, smoothness and light weight make it a perfect front end for a 29’er.

6. SUPER SHORT CHAINSTAYS

The Scalpel 29’er has the shortest chainstays we’ve ever seen on a dual suspension ‘niner. This gives you nimbler handling, better rear-wheel tracking, point-and-shoot predictability and untouchable climb-ing performance. In the terms of our engineers: Less radial bend, fewer torsional forces, and lights-out power delivery. Bam! If you feel good on a Flash, you’ll love the new Scalpel.

7. ECS-TC (ENHANCED CENTER STIFFNESS-TORSION CONTROL) SYSTEM

Incorporating elements of OverMountain’s ECS-TC system, The Scalpel 29’er uses 15mm thru axles that are clamped on both sides, effectively tying the two sides together and dramatically increasing the system stiffness. The alloy version gets the doubled bearings at the rear drop-out as well. These combine with the incredibly light but beefy shock link to improve center-stiffness and enhance control.

8. X12 REAR AXLE SYSTEM

The Scalpel 29’er uses the X12 system for better, play-free clamping in both axial and radial directions during serious descents. You get the stiffness of a 12mm thru axle with the quick wheel changes and ease of use of a quick-release wheel. For those with XC stablemates in their riding quiver, the X-12 system is convertible to 135mm spacing for uniformity among cross-country rigs.

9. TIRE CLEARANCE

An offset seat tube gives capacity for tires up to 2.3 inches wide – perfect for hard-charging riders who demand the extra flotation and mud-shedding capacity of high-volume tires.

10. ONE-PIECE SEAT TUBE AND BB NODE WITH BBULKHEAD REINFORCEMENT

Ships use bulkheads. Aircraft use bulkheads. Cannondale uses bulk-heads. Why? Because for nominal weight they significantly improve strength and structural integrity. On the Scalpel 29’er, the down tube lug is closed at the end, forming a bulkhead that acts as a stiffen-ing rib at the down tube / BB junction. The one-piece BB node plus BBulkhead achieves the ultimate in strength and power delivery.

11. BALLISTEC CARBON

High-strength, high-impact carbon construction. Ultra high-strength fibers developed by the Japanese military for ballistic armoring, and impact-resistant hot-melt resins are used as the primary structural materials of the frame, while high-modulus carbon fibers are used to strategically enhance stiffness. Lighter and stiffer than aluminum, pound for pound stronger than steel, BallisTec carbon can shake off rock strikes and impacts that would cripple the competition and their carbon “shields”.

12. PRESSFIT, FULL-CARBON BB30

Riders with explosive power delivery can have their efforts sapped by too much flex in the bottom bracket. Cannondale’s oversized, press-fit BB30 and full-carbon BB shell construction guarantees not a calorie of energy is wasted when leading the field. Charge on.

HARDTAIL 29’ER

HARDTAIL 29’ERBIGGER. BETTER.

NO LONGER CONFINED TO THE FRINGES OF THE MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD, 29’ERS ARE BECOMING THE NORM, AS LIKELY NOW TO TURN UP AT A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP XC AS THEY ARE UNDERNEATH A LONG HAUL TRAIL RIDER. THE BEAUTY IS THAT THE BENEFITS ARE THE SAME FOR ALL RIDERS: 29” WHEELS LOVE TO ROLL. AND ROLL. OVER EVERYTHING.

Roots, rocks, washboards, ruts, you name it. 29” wheels roll right over things that would stop a 26” wheel cold. The extra few inches of diam-eter make a bigger difference than you’d expect, helping you float over obstacles, increasing the bike’s stability, improving traction and brak-ing, and offering a surprisingly comfortable ride. And because the bike rolls and floats, you conserve energy.

The way the wheels maintain momentum is simply amazing. You can charge through sections that you tip-toe through on little-wheel bikes, eat up rolling terrain and climb steep, loose stuff like a turbo diesel. The benefits of our exceptional Lefty forks are amplified when used with 29’er wheels. Lefty’s exceptional stiffness and light weight improve performance noticeably compared to other 29’er forks.

Complimenting our new full suspension Scalpel 29’er is our stable of 29’er hardtails:

The Flash Carbon is hands-down the lightest, stiffest and smoothest riding 29’er hardtail frame ever made. If you are looking for the ulti-mate 29’er race bike, look no further.

Flash Carbon and Flash Alloy 29’ers have a race-oriented geometry with short chainstays, a lower BB, and steeper head angles, designed to replicate the sharp handling, liveliness and incredible power delivery of their 26” wheeled counterparts.

The Trail SL 29’ers have a slightly longer wheelbase and slacker head angles for a stable, confidence-inspiring ride

FLASH CARBON 29’ER – TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS

1. BALLISTEC CARBON

Our high-strength, high-impact carbon construction, BallisTec ends the traditional connection between ultra-light carbon frames and fragility. Over.

Each tube is individu-ally laid up, orienting the unidirectional fibers precisely to resist the tube-specific loads, then the tubes are joined and overwrapped fol-lowing an equally precise layup schedule.

The straight tubing on the Flash shaves the most weight possible by enabling the carbon fibers to pull absolutely straight, which increases the performance of the fiber.

FLASH ALLOY 29’ER

Our Flash Carbon 29’er rendered in 6061 Aluminum. The lightest, fast-est alloy 29’er hardtail on the market.
