You have heard about your five a day for fruit and veg for a healthy diet. Headstrong.ie is here to help you to do your five a day for mental health. They are Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give. These are small ordinary things that we often take for granted but that can have a big effect on your health and well-being.

Connect with yourself and with those around you. Make time every day to stay in touch with people.

Be ActiveGo for walk or run in the fresh air, take up yoga, go dancing or pick a new activity. It can be with others, or something you like to do by yourself.

Take Noticeof people, of yourself, what’s going on in college, the world around you, of the positives in your life. Take notice of the societies and clubs that are available.

Keep Learningabout yourself, others and be open to the world. Develop new skills and improve existing talents, read, listen and explore.

Givetime to yourself and to others. Give thanks, a hug, a smile, an act of kindness, a listening ear, a shoulder for support or find time to volunteer. Give useful information to your peers and colleagues about what you know and what you have learned.
