Step 1: Ensure that the capacitor terminals are connected to signal conditioner

unit properly as indicated. And the plates should be clean without any

dust.

Zero POT

Switch ON the instrument and keep it idle for 3-4 minutes for initial warm up.

Step 2: Keep the movable plate on scale at ‘0’ by moving left, and adjust the

zero POT to read the value ‘000’ from DPM.

Step 3: Calculate the overlap area (w x L, cm2) between the two

plates using a scale. And measure the plate voltage (Vp) across

the output terminals using DMM.

(DMM red probe is connected to V/Ω terminal, black probe to COM terminal.)

Step 4: Keep the movable plate on

scale at ‘50’ by moving right, and

adjust the ‘Cal POT’ to read the value

‘050’ from DPM.

Calculate again the overlap area now

And measure the output voltage as

mentioned in the step – 3.

Once the Zero & Cal POTs calibrated

They should be kept constant during

entire range operation.

Adjust the scale for different positions

and calculate overlap area and Vp.
