The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon Event consists of a Standard Marathon 42.2km; a 10km PEACE Run, two PEACE Trail Runs (22km & 12km) and a 5km PEACE Run. Please note : No manual. fax or postal entries will be accepted for the two trail runs as they have a restricted entry limit.

Only online entries will be accepted for the TRAIL RUNS. The Marathon is limited to 13 000 entrants only. The 10 km is limited to a maximum of 10 000 entries. The Trail runs are limited to 500 entries per distance.

NEW NUMBER COLLECTION / EXPO VENUE: The Century City Conference Centre, 21st & 22nd SEPTEMBER 2018.Registration (including number pick-up) will take place at the SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON EXPO.Runners must register and collect their race packs prior to the race. It is vital that you bring proof of entry, payment and ID to registration.

RESULTS: NO CHIP, NO RESULT, NO TIME. Complete results will be posted on www.capetownmarathon.com website. TEMPORARY TIMING CHIPS: Marathon & 10km PEACE RUN – Temporary timing chip: All marathon & 10km runners will receive temporary timing chips attached to their race numbers which are included in the entry fee. TOG BAGS: Tog bag facilities are available at the event. Please ensure that tog bags are clearly marked & valuables removed. Use facilities at owners risk. TRAFFIC & PARKING: For full details go to website for details.

SUBSTITUTIONS: No upgrades or downgrades will be processed. Substitu-tions between 21st & 27th AUGUST 2018. No refunds will be processed.

RUN GREEN: The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon event is a climate neutral event. We are encouraging all runners to help us support the #RunGreen campaign. Please see website and rules for details. PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES’ PROGRAMME:See website for full details. CONFIRMATION OF ENTRY: Entrants will receive a confirmation email & SMS as soon as your entry has been processed. Prior to number collection you will receive an sms indicating your race number and collection details.

15. For safety reasons the use of personal music players with headphones is NOT ALLOWED. Any person using such device will be disqualified and shall not be eligible for individual or team prizes.

16. Marshals, traffic and any police officials must be obeyed at all times. If participants are instructed by any race, medical, traffic or police official to stop they shall do so immediately.

17. Distance markers will be placed at each kilometer mark.18. Refreshment stations will be situated approximately every 5km.19. No dogs are allowed during any event.20. Prams are ONLY allowed in the 5km PEACE Run but not for any other events.21. Wheelchair users must please contact the organisers timeously to make arrange-

ments for their participation.22. Should a third party pick up your race numbers at the EXPO, a letter of authorization

must be supplied with your details and theirs.23. No upgrades, downgrades or substitutions will be done after the closing date of the

12th August 2018. No refunds will be processed.24. REFUNDS: All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable under all circum-

stances, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the event or of the athlete’s par-ticipation, or change in the date, nature, or format of the event. The event may be cancelled or changed due to severe weather or any other factors that may be deemed to threaten the safety of athletes, staff, or volunteers.

25. The SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON is a qualifier for The Two Oceans Marathon and Comrades Marathon. Please note that both these events require a marathon race to be completed within 5 hours.

26. Professional Athletes’ Programme (PAP) – All international & local elite/professional athletes (who hope to qualify for prize money), need to apply and be accepted into the PAP, applications are to be sent through to [email protected] no later than 8 weeks prior to the event – see website for full details.

27. Elite/Professional athletes included in the PAP shall be subject to IAAF advertising regulations and must abide by the clothing restrictions covered in ASA rule 24.16.

28. As required in terms of IAAF rules, international athletes must be able to produce the letter of clearance from his/her federation permitting participation.

29. Cut off and time limits – see the website for details30. The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and 10km PEACE Run are seeded races. If a

seeding time is not provided on entry, seeding will be into the back of the race. 31. Liability: The organisers and sponsors accept no responsibility for injury or

RULES & REGULATIONSEntrants undertake to abide by the following rules and agree to the following conditions

RULES FOR ROAD RUNNING ENTRANTS: 1. The SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON and 10km PEACE Run are run and organ-

ized in terms of the rules of WPA, ASA and the IAAF.2. The SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON is open to all registered and unregistered

runners of 20 years and older. The 10km PEACE Run is open to all registered and unregistered runners of 14 years and older.

3. NO LATE ENTRIES will be accepted. The race organizers reserve the right to accept or reject any entry. The entry fee is non- refundable unless the entry is rejected.

4. Race Numbers: Official event race numbers are to be worn on the front and the back of the participants vest. Licensed athletes must abide by the final instructions regard-ing the display of permanent ASA licences. Unlicensed athletes must purchase a temporary license at R65 for the marathon; R35 (open) & R20 (junior) for the 10km PEACE Run. No swopping of race numbers or temporary timing chips as these are linked to your name and finishing time and may result in your disqualification.

5. Temporary-licensed participants are eligible for age category prizes provided they en-ter the relevant age group, wear the appropriate age tags and provide proof of age.

6. Club Colours: Runners must wear club colours or plain clothes (no ambush marketing is permitted). Full club colours must be worn to count for team prizes.

7. Seconding: Personal seconding is not permitted except at official refreshment sta-tions. NO private vehicles or bicycles are allowed.

8. Prizes: In addition to overall (Open) prizes, participants will only be eligible for an age category prize in the age category they enter. Corresponding numerical age category tags must be worn on the front and back of their vest. Participants may enter the age category corresponding to their chronological age or any younger category down to senior. Age tags will be available for purchase, R5 per set, at number collection.

9. Juniors (born from 1999 onwards), even if wearing junior licenses must wear age category tags to qualify for age group prizes. Proof of age is required for all category prizes. Juniors will count towards Open or Senior team prizes unless there is a Junior team prize offered

10. Payment of Prize money: Money will only be transferred once full doping results have been received.

11. In the event that any prize category results are not announced or made available at the official prize-giving, such results will be posted on the event website and circulated through the usual WPA club channels. In accordance with ASA rule 27.2 individuals and clubs shall be given 7 days to raise any appeal in writing to the organisers, where after the published results shall be deemed final, notwithstanding any inaccuracies that may be identified at a later date.

12. The race number and temporary timing chip are linked to your name and finishing time – Allowing another person to compete with your number will result in disqualification of the other person and your exclusion from next year’s event.

13. Temporary timing chips: MARATHON & 10km PEACE Run participants shall use the temporary timing chip provided at registration attached to your race number. Failure to wear the temporary timing chip will result in the participant’s name being omitted from the results. NO CHIP, NO TIME, NO RESULT, NO PRIZES, NO QUALIFICATION FOR OTHER RACES. NO EXCEPTIONS.

14. The SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON, 10 km PEACE Run and PEACE TRAIL RUNS take place in environmentally sensitive areas. Participants may not litter or damage the environment in which the events take place in any way. Participants who do not respect the instructions regarding litter may be subject to disciplinary action including disqualification, a fine or a ban from future events. Do not litter. Dispose of

sachets and cups responsibly by using the boxes provided or carrying them to the Finish. Report offenders to the referees. #RunGreen.
