SB 372 Scavello, Mario (R) (PN 336) Amends Title 37 (Historical & Museums), in general provisions, further providing for definitions; in powers and duties of Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, further providing for specific powers and duties, for personal property and for documents and providing for Commonwealth archival records, for local government archival records and for access to older public records; and, in historic properties, further providing for title to historic property and for powers over certain historic property. The legislation also removes the commission.s duty of providing a report on the operation of the Conservation Center, as well as language regarding notification of the ability to reacquire items prior to state auction. The bill adds language concerning abandoned property on loan to the commission, and the commission.s authority over Pennsylvania.s state archives. The legislation adds language relating to protection and recovery of commonwealth, local government, and other older public records; concerning the sale or transfer of commonwealth archival records; and regarding access to public items in the state archives. The bill includes leasing of records for residential purposes, and extends the maximum lease to 25 years. Lastly, the legislation removes power over historic property from certain historical organizations. Effective in 60 days.
