Benefits to Employers

"As an old proverb says, "Opportunities are only provided to those people who are well prepared". Before I entered PolyU, I had already planned what I wanted to achieve during my university life. I have worked as a summer intern in a fund management company in Shanghai, an audit firm in New York and an insurance company in Hong Kong. Yes, being successful is not easy. With good planning, strong determination and great devotion, nothing is impossible."

CAPS Services to EmployersIn order to train and nurture students to become "preferred graduates" for employment, PolyU has incorporated a mandatory Work-Integrated Education (WIE) component into the curriculum since 2005/06, the only university in Hong Kong which has implemented this requirement. All full-time undergraduate students at PolyU are required to complete a mandatory WIE component as part of their curriculum.

Local, Mainland China and International Internships

To fulfill WIE requirements, students are encouraged to take on internship in either Hong Kong, mainland China and/or International which provide great opportunities to apply classroom theories into real work place situation. The typical internships include Summer Internship that normally takes place from June to August for a duration of 8 to 12 weeks, and Clinical or Sandwich Internship that may last up to one year if students are required to acquire clinical or technical skills.

Offshore placements are great opportunities for students to develop a global perspective while gaining work experience. In 2013/14, more than 900 PolyU students secured summer internship experiences around the world, including mainland China, Australia, Canada, Germany, UK and USA. Students can also take up part-time employment to gain practical work experience if the study schedule allows. If you need for extra manpower in your company, you may consider allowing interns to take on special projects that can bring benefits and value to your business or operation. We also welcome support from local employers in placing overseas students for short term assignments from 6 to 12 weeks during summer.

Job Posting

Our goal is to help employers find the best candidates to meet their job requirements. We invite employers to post full-time, part-time and internship positions on PolyU Job Board, which all PolyU students will access on a frequent basis. To find out more about Job Posting Service, please go to www.polyu.edu.hk/caps/es-post-a-job.

Career Fair

CAPS organize an annual Career Fair which has been well received among many employers. It is a good platform for employers to introduce their companies and publicize their job openings, while students can find out more about the companies and job requirements. In 2014, the Career Fair attracted over 220 different companies from various industries to participate as exhibitors and over 6,000 students visited.

Recruitment Talk

CAPS organize Recruitment Talks and invite employers to introduce their companies and available postings to students. Between September 2013 and June 2014, CAPS organized more than 140 recruitment talks which attracted around 5,000 students to attend.

Senior Executive Sharing/CEO Forum

Apart from recruitment talks, CAPS organize special sharing sessions or forums for Chief/Senior Executives from various industries to share their insights to our student. Topics include "How to be a successful leader", "Career goal setting", "The importance of personal branding", "Techniques for job interviews" and so on.

Career Training and Assessment

CAPS provide career training and on-site assessment services for students to prepare them for job interviews and to ensure that students can gain immediate benefits and apply their skills in the workplace. We are happy to work with employers in jointly organizing seminars/workshops for students to prepare them well in embarking on their career journey.

Graduate Employment Survey

Each year, CAPS compile employment statistics of PolyU graduates and publish a Graduate Employment Survey Report. Through the report, employers can have a clear picture of our students' employment destinations and other relevant statistics. It includes employment situation by Faculty/School, distribution of graduates by employment sector, salary analysis and so on.
